i have heard some people say if they squat over the toilet its more manageable? i had to get to DH to do it as i could not reach area at all!!! it didn't lead to anything he knew he was there to do a job and that was it. and anyway if its done properly it should sting so that hardly puts you in mood :o0 as far as im concerned its the least DH can do :o0 but yes it was a pain having to do it when he was ready/available!! especially towards the end when technically you are supposed to do it in morn and night but i could only pin him down to do it in evenings (he's not a morning person :o0 )

I really want to give myself the best shot of natural birth so would prefer not to skip it but if it proves to be too difficult then i might end up giving up :o(

Hi FF, When you are on the toilet are you reaching around behind you? Another way to do it is to raise your leg onto a step/a few phone books ;-) (be sure the neighbours aren't getting an eyeful) :o0 As Kiss the Bride said - enlist hubby's help and if you're still having problems with it you can still reduce the likelihood of a tear by labouring in the bath as much as possible and/or using a warm wet compress against the perineum when you start to feel 'pushy'. HTH Tracy

Thanks Tracy, I was reaching on front as opposed to behind :-8 oops might try again the other way around and see if i can at least do it sometimes myself and get hubby to do it other times. My birth movie has me labouring in bath and if at all possible the sea !!!!!
