I'm so upset. I had bloods taken last week at the doctors while I was getting seen to for the kidney infection.I havn't had AF in about 4 over 4 months, and before that it was 6 monthss. Anyway, found out that I have high levels of prolactin in my blood. I did the worst thing, and googled it! I'm so upset, it can lead to infertility. We weren't planning on having babies for a few years, but this has knocked me for six. I had high levels of prolactin the last time I got my period too, but the dotctor didn't do anything about it. I don't know why I am posting this, I have PCOS as well. Are all the odds stacked against me?

hey hon Please don't be worrying. At least you are aware of what the problem is now so you have plenty of time to try to balance back out your hormones before you start TTC. It is possible!! Stay away from google!!! You'd be much better off to go and see an endrocronologist (sp) and discuss the results of your bloods and getting a plan of action in place. Try not to worry- lots of women have high prolactin levels and PCOS and are treated very successfully and go on to have a beautiful family. In a way at least you know about this now and you can do something about it :xxx :xxx

PLease don't be upset. Raised prolactin levels are caused by PCOS so it is not as if you have 2 separate conditions that are compounding the problem, they are connected. Raised levels can surpress ovulation but the good news is that it can be treated quite efficiently. You should ask your GP to refer you to a specialist.
