Clifden is a lovely little town bit of a trek to get there but I liked it. Relaxed kind of feeling. Maybe stay in galway city for a night and escape to clifden 45 mins away. do you use pigsback or groupon citydeals? they always have offers on hotels all over the place. you could stock up on the offers.

Kerry would be fab plenty to do and see there. Same with Cork - Kinsale is beautiful. Westport in Mayo has loads of great hotels and restaurants and there's plenty to do there too.

West Cork is always lovely great if you like the out doorsey stuff, for kayaking the following crowd to night time kayaks and stuff. If cycling or walking is something that you like then there is loads as the roads are so much quiter than the ring of kerry and the place is so wild. And the walks around sheeps head are fantastic, right up onto cliff faces not a sinner around. And then for a little luxury we stayed here, went in Oct hoping the weather would be cold as there is nothing nicer than a hot tub and cold weather, had an odd little heat wave instead.... but still good to soothe the aching feet after a day out tramping.
