Hi all

Myself and my partner visited Dubrovnik last week for a bit of a holiday and to view a number of locations. We met with 2 different wedding planners. One who was pretty uninspiring and one who was amazing.

We are pretty sure we are going to go ahead with it for Aug 2018.

Our plan is to get married in St Blaise. Then have everyone taken by boat to Villa Ruza on Kolocep Island. The boat would then take us all back home at 1am.

The following day we would like to have a get together for everyone from around 4pm and have a BBQ and then some drinks possibly in Lapad.

This was our second visit to Dubrovnik and we love it. If we go ahead and book it we will probably visit again before the wedding.

We are unsure how many guests will go but we are thinking about 70 people.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We are still waiting on pricing and so on from the various venues to be sent through.

We were informed by both planners that Argentina and Excelsior are no longer doing weddings after Summer 2018 and only have a number of slots left.

Thanks

Hi All,

Looking for help and advice please!

I was hoping to have my wedding in Vala Beach, Dubrovnik. I got in touch with a wedding planner over 6 weeks ago to make the booking. They have advised me the hotel is updating its conditions for 2018 and cant take booking until it has been updated. I then contacted the hotel who gave me the same message and promised me an update within a week - that was 5 weeks ago!
I called them again today and they still cant give me an answer when they will begin taking bookings again. Im at a loss as i REALLY like the hotel but I have been searching for a venue in Croatia since June!!
Has anyone any idea what is happening or have you been through the same experience?
I dont know whether to start looking elsewhere

Hi ladies,
I'm new to this forum but have booked our wedding in Croatia in May 2019. Just wondering if any of you know of or can recommended a makeup artist and hairdresser?

Also, has anyone had any luck in getting a good DJ and/or band??

Thanks in advance:)

Hi Ladies :)
Im also knew to this forum and found all your chats very useful.
We are hoping to book our wedding for June 2019. Katie, I like you would like accommodation to cater for families/children.
The reception areas I quite like are villa ruza and vala beach too. We will be having a civil ceremony, preferably with sea views, no location decided on. But I'm unsure of what steps to take first. Not many travel agents in northern Ireland do weddings to Croatia, but one uses "Perfect weddings Abroad", they say the handle everything! But I'm debating to go through an online wedding specialist or choose one of the wedding planners in croatia, for more finer, intimate details. Do yous have any thoughts on whos best to book with?

Hey all! I'm booked to get married sept 14th this year in the Dubrovnik palace vala, we are having a civil ceremony and reception there, we have a wedding planner based in croatia. I'm not the most organised yet! We booked a villa through air BnB so hopefully that all goes well we really wanted a villa with a pool! It's booked for the lapad area, we are just in the process of organising music! Can anyone recommend a great band or dj?

14 weeks left till we get married though it REALLY has not sunk in yet - to the point where I am sort of panicking and waiting for someone to kick me into action! Thanks again to all the brides who have posted on this forum - your answers honestly help so much!
Like many of you, I initially chose a small wedding but then the invites were issued to everyone in the audience so I still have no idea what my final number may be but estimating for 80 or so in GVA and the Palm Terrace. It was a shame that I had booked the GVA and the drinks reception in the villa ursula for after but a few weeks ago was told that the hotel is closing off sections for VVIPS only (so sod off basically) so i cannot hold my drinks reception there anymore. This came as a real shock and disappointment and then followed by a chat with some locals that many hotels in fact are not in favour of weddings to tourists anymore that tourist-fatigue has set in. Such a shame. Just a heads up to the newbie brides who are getting married there/ plan to get married there that the costs go up - up up and it definitely is not as cheap as getting married at home as they do not throw in extras the way Irish do, you will pay for everything O:| and surprised at the inflated prices for many things because the Croatian wage is terribly low so they really capitalise on the weddings.
Back when we booked the wedding a year a half ago Croatia was popular but now seems to be the #1 place to go which unfort has pushed up the flights to a ridiculous price so that is another thing to worry about!

One big tip is to make a wedding website that contains all the information guests may need from the venue, to the accommodation to things to do.

I am still struggling to find a band - ANY recommendations please? I can only find 2. and 1 of them is the recommendation of my planner. PM me if you have suggestions other than Teatar.

Accommodation: I have heard horror reports of some villas so can anyone please recommend good, convenient apartments in the Old Town and Cavtat region?

Shipping: has anyone shipped over a big box of decor etc? What company did you use? And was it worth it? I have so much stuff i would rather ship it than bring in a suitcase...

Boat rental: did any of you hire a private boat and recommend a particular person/company?

Apologies for the huge post, your replies are so welcome ladies :babydust:
