X Rays while pregnant

I always thought that you couldn't have an x ray while pregnant and I rang up my dentist today with glee to cancel an appointment which is a 6 month check up after root canal as I know that an x ray would be involved. The receptionist said that as I was 7 weeks gone I would have to wait until I was 12 weeks gone before having an x ray so booked me in for end of July. Is this right? Is it safe?

i'm not sure to be honest but at the dentist they'd cover you up with a lead apron before taking the xray of your tooth so babs won't get any of the rays.

Do you think that I should put it off altogether?

i'm not an expert but maybe talk to your GP?

there is absolutely no risk at all of having a dental x-ray at any stage during pregnancy. The amount x-rays involved in a dental x-ray is tiny... I work in this area. if want any more info just ask.
