Donna Rave Photography

Hired Donna based on the reviews I read and photos I saw online. Then I had a call with her where I checked if she had done small weddings and asked her for her opinion etc. all very positive.

However-This is NOT the Donna/professional photographer we got.

We had a very small wedding and every guest remarked on Donna’s negative energy and lack of care/attention to detail. Sadly, Donna didn’t add to our day but took away from it and the atmosphere lifted when she left.

Donna didn’t capture a group shot, despite me requesting one when I hired her and creating a list of key shots that I wanted (just the standard family ones!). Donna didn’t seem to care that these key moments were missing from our photos and instantly blamed the bride (me) for not instructing her on the day.

When I reached out to Donna to politely request if she had taken some ‘full length’ photos- where my shoes and the grooms were included - she became defensive and only after my wedding told me that she is “documentary style” which means she doesn’t provide any direction to guests (or newlyweds) to get pre-agreed shots on the day. This style also means photos are taken in the moment, so expect speed of execution over set up. For us, this meant bins etc included in the background, poor lighting, people not looking at camera, faces out of focus or in shadows and arms /or feet missing. My biggest upset is that she chopped our feet in what would have been a lovely picture but is now useable.

Be aware that you may not even get a solo photo of the bride in her dress on the big day- I didn’t. As a bride, Donna won’t direct you in any way due her photography style.

I wish I had read a review like this before booking Donna. As crying the night of wedding is not something I want another bride to experience. This has poor experience has completely overshadowed our big day. I am now trying to cobble together photos taken on phones from the day, but to little avail. Bride beware.

We were very lucky to have Donna as our wedding photographer. She was very professional and knew exactly what moments to capture. She was natural and relaxed and put ourselves and our families at ease. Donna's photos are creative, romantic and exciting. Donna captured all the magic and beauty of our special day in a way which I couldn't have imagined. I would absolutely recommend Donna as your wedding photography.

We would absolutely recommend Donna Rave as a wedding photographer. Her calm and informal approach really puts you at ease and allows her to work away taking pictures without you even realising it (we really didn't want to spend the day posing formally with family and friends!). She produced excellent shots from our wedding, really capturing the day and everyone there. Looking back, having Donna as our photographer was definitely one of our better wedding decisions:)
