Gareth McGaughey

As a former wedding photographer, I wanted something quite different for my own wedding from the style I typically offer my clients. My wife and I both wanted a relaxed, candid approach that would capture every aspect of our day. We discovered Gareth through another photographer who was already booked but recommended him because of their similar approach. It turned out to be a wonderfully fortunate recommendation.

During the day, Gareth remained almost invisible and I often caught his movement out of the corner of my eye after the photo was taken. His documentary style aproach, not unlike that of a nature photographer capturing wildlife in their habitat, meant that many of his photos included the expressions and excitement of our guests as well as the typical wedding-style shots. We had several calls with him before the wedding so that we were all on the same page about what we wanted as a couple and what he could offer, including what could not be guaranteed which I felt was an important and valid observation.

We received a small selection of previews a few days after the wedding and they are STUNNING! There are some beautiful bride & groom photos, but the ones that brought us both to tears were the few that showed the emotional reaction from our guests, especially our families. Many fleeting moments that were missed by us on the day that we can now look back on. Every aspect of the day was captured in huge detail from the bride & groom preparation to the ceremony, to the meet and greet, live entertainment and first dance.

We cannot believe how incredible these photos have come out and this is only the previews, we havent even received the rest yet as the wedding was less than a week ago. We are down with my family this weekend and spent last night going through them again and of course everyone was in tears by the last photo!

We both can't reccomend Gareth enough, he took on board what we wanted from our day and delivered 100%. The photos so far are better than we could have ever dreamed of and he had a great way of explaining to us how to pose for our couple shots. Many of our guests complimented how non-intrusive he was during the day and that even when they were in-frame, how they didn't even realise until after the photo had been taken. We are so excited to see te rest of the photos and are so very grateful for All the hard work Gareth put in to make our special day that extra bit magical!!
