Le Nid de Plumes - France

Nestled in the French countryside, close to Poitiers, is the Irish owned, Le Nid De Plumes wedding venue.  "Le Nid De Plumes" translates to "The Nest of Feathers " as it is a converted French feather factory .  The building was discovered, restored and renovated by Caroline Gardiner, an experienced event manager from Dublin who has settled in France with her French husband.  

The building with its raw industrial charm still intact comprises of two floors.  The downstairs room, lovingly named "The Plumasserie" is the heart of  the building where most  of the weddings take place.  It looks onto a beautiful Parisian-inspired cobblestone terrace, which is perfect for drinks receptions prior to dining.  The upstairs spaces, The Birdcage and The Gallery are used as a plan B for an outside ceremony, a separate space to having children minded in or indeed a drinks reception or aperitif area.    The pièce de résistance of this stunning venue is The Enchanted Forest, which also has its own fairy cabins for people to sleep in.  Within the enchanted forest is a perfect wedding ceremony amongst the trees, beautiful lighting  and nature.  There is a built-in firepit with the gates of the enchanted forest which has seen many parties end up with a whiskey and a sign-song around the camp fire.  

Last but not least, there is an ideal place for partying into the night in 'le Frigo' which was, in its day, the cold room for storing all of the feathers.  Equipped with a dancefloor, gold rotating disco ball, this space is ideal for containing the dancers all evening!  

Between the onsite gite (2 x bedrooms) that can sleep 6 people, the 4 fairy cabins in the enchanted forest (2 people per cabin) and the main house which can sleep up to 8 people, there is onsite accommodation for 20 guests.  the closest hotel is a mere 50 metres away from le Nid De Plumes and there are several local gites close by.
