Sylvia O'Brien Soprano

Regarded as one of the country's finest sopranos, Sylvia O'Brien has performed internationally in the world’s major opera houses and concert halls, impressing audiences in opera, oratorio and chamber music. As a regular recitalist, Sylvia O'Brien has performed at many chamber festivals and recital halls throughout Europe. Coming from a family of renowned opera singers, Sylvia began her career singing in the acclaimed Clarendon Street Church Dublin and also Christ Church Cathedral before going on to perform as soloist with major orchestras and opera companies in Ireland and abroad. Sylvia has vast experience performing at celebrity weddings and state events throughout Ireland with pianist and organist Niall Kinsella. Alongside her performing career, Sylvia is a member of the vocal faculty at The Royal Irish Academy of Music and Maynooth University. Her specialist vocal and interpretative skills have established her as an important performer of contemporary music having performed numerous international premieres as well as many composers writing works specifically for her voice
