Weddings at Gretna Green

It was just the two of us.we couldn't fault our day ,it was organized, simple,no fuss ,no faff.we had what WE wanted and we would highly recommend it.

From the first phone call to the service took 6 weeks we were informed every step of the way and the staff were helpful and friendly. The wedding day was fabulous and at every stage we had the advice and support of the team they were amazing and our wedding was simply magical and couldn’t have been better. Thank you so much

Gretna Green was simply a magical experience from start to finish. The whole team at Gretna Hall was kind, friendly, and professional, nothing was too much trouble for them. We got married at the original old Smith's and our ceremony was truly special and the kindness of the team just put us at ease. Simply put our day was perfect in everyday!! Jill our wedding planner could not have done more and we are so happy xx

We had our wedding with 25 guests on a Wednesday in late April. We stayed in suite 3 Gretna Hall Hotel. It was amazing. Only slight complaint is no hooks of rails to hang up dresses for steaming. Otherwise perfect. We got married in the coach house marriage room and then had our wedding breakfast and reception in the drawing room in Gretna hall hotel. This room was stunning and the sunlight flooded in. Staff bent over backwards for us. Excellent service. The food was phenomenal. Jill was great at organising us. The gardens around the hotel were beautiful for photos. Got my hair and make up done by spoilt at smiths - not just round the corner as salon led me to believe. You need a driver to drop you and pick you up. My witness did this for us. Used the photographers supplied in package. You don’t really get a lot of their time as they are quickly on to the next wedding. Snaps of ceremony and a few in the garden. Just over a hour’s coverage. Glad one of my guests was a photographer and he filled in the rest of the day. Defo worth taking a 10 minute walk to the old blacksmith shop and getting pictures in the wee square behind it with the arch and the holding hands statue.

From arriving to leaving the next morning I have zero complaints, staff were all really nice and professional, any requests or questions were sorted straight away, you can tell these are wedding day specialist because everything was done so smoothly, from checking in, having our table and wedding cake all set up, food out promptly and looked and tasted amazing to the breakfast the next morning that had enough choice to cater for anyone's taste, we got married in the coachhouse which was stunning and very romantic and historic, staff and our minister Grame was excellent and made it very special and personalized for us, even took lots of photos for us and spent time after the wedding with us. Overall it's a 10/10 and id highly recommend following our suit if your thinking of getting married at gretna green, an amazing special day thanks to all who made it possible who work there.

We were married in the famous Blacksmiths Shop and what a day it was.
Stunning setting and professional friendly staff made the day perfect.
We stayed in the Ash Suite which was lovely. Really spacious with a large bathroom and balcony. The matress was a bit saggy and pillows were a bit tired but it is the bridal suite, I imagine they have been through a lot!
My family stayed in the cottages and they were gorgeous and a good price.
We will be visiting again soon, we loved the place.

It was a fantastic few days staff very friendly and made it special a great venue food was really good will defiantly be back on our anniversary next year only one
complaint one of the guest rooms the family room had a sofa bed it was so hard there kids are on the spectrum and could not sleep in it so ended sharing the bed with there parents we did mention it but was told nothing else was available. apart from that it was a truly remarkable and memorable experience cant wait to come back.

We had the most magical wedding day at Gretna Hall Hotel. From booking our wedding, to Lesley in the wedding team answering all our questions in advance, Jill our wedding host helping us and all our guests on our wedding day, Bill our photographer, Laura from the events company who beautifully decorated the Johnstone function room and all the staff who provided excellent service throughout our stay. The Courtyard marriage room was beautiful, so romantic and the bridal suite was amazing. Gretna Hall Hotel you created the most magical, perfect, memorable wedding day that we will treasure forever. We look forward to returning each year for our anniversary. Gretna Hall will now always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you to everyone.

Our day was perfect start to finish. The staff were incredible.
The day ran perfectly. Organisation was fantastic! The day couldnt have been better in any way.

My only grumble was that there was a room that i had booked prior that aparantly wasnt paid for which was an unexpected bill of 270 pounds, despite phoning a couple of times before and receiving an email confirming that everything had been paid in full.

Everything from my first call to book our wedding to checking out the day after the wedding and everything in between was perfect. The florist Angela was amazing flowers were so fresh and beautiful, the bagpiper Craig was brilliant the lady who done the handfasting and Keith the minister were simply wonderful! Our day could not have been better. We stayed in the Smiths hotel which was lovely spotlessly clean and very comfortable rooms, food was amazing! We will come back for our anniversary.

Staff were so helpful and on top of it all. They knew what they were doing so we could enjoy the day! It all ran so smoothly we wish we could do it all again! No question was too stupid lol they were so happy to help.

Our whole experience from going down to look around & booking our wedding & arriving the day before & the actual whole wedding experience was all absolutely fabulous. We would both like to thank all who helped us & made the whole experience fabulous & so easy. The whole experience was perfect. Amber was available when we got there & talked us through what was happening the following day & I met with her on the morning of the wedding to go through the last minute details.

Lynne walked the guests to the Coach House & then came back for myself & my brother-in-law.

When we got back to Gretna Hall we had a drink in the bar but there was nowhere to sit in the lounge but we asked if we could go through to the reception room & have the meal a bit earlier - this was accommodated & made the whole experience stress free.

Thank you to Amber for all her help, being so bubbly & friendly & all the other staff who made our day.

If we had any criticism it would be that the lounge area isn't big enough to accommodate everyone, especially if you have a larger wedding party.

Our suite was fantastic had everything we needed lovely decor and so comfortable
Food in the hotel was delicious from the buffet breakfast to our wedding breakfast meal which was stunning the steak was perfect
We absolutely recommend doing it this way whether it’s just the 2 of you like us or with family and friends it was just perfect

We married here with 12 of our close family and friends, we married at the blacksmiths shop then stayed two nights at the smiths hotel with meals in the private dining alcoves. The whole experience from start to finish was really positive, the staff really know their jobs and do make your day special. We took advantage of an offer to get married in January and felt the pricing was excellent and really good value for money, we even got lucky and got some gorgeous winter sunshine on our day! Thank you to all involved in our wedding, it really was all we wanted and more. 🩷

Perfect for our small wedding after 30yrs together ❤

We really enjoyed our wedding and everyone was very friendly and made our day special. We loved our room and the blacksmiths forge was really special. The only thing I would have liked was perhaps a bottle of wine with our wedding meal or at least a glass of something and I would have preferred a light meal the night before instead of afternoon tea. The afternoon tea and cocktail was lovely but we had it quite late and would have liked the choice of having a proper cooked meal instead of cakes and sandwiches.

Every interaction with everyone concerned with our wedding made us feel so special, nothing was too much trouble to make sure we got the wedding we wanted and our day was perfect.
Gretna Hall Hotel were first class and Jill the wedding planner was lovely.
Hair by Hayley and Make Up by Abi Black made us feel and look amazing. Tartan Carriages were brilliant and we felt like royalty being taken to and from the hotel to the Original Blacksmiths Shop. Isoble looked after us so well there and made sure everything ran smoothly. Photographer and video by Ray Carruthers kept us relaxed and engaged and the photos and video are amazing. Our ceremony was performed by Mark Smith who was so lovely and thoughtful.
Food, drink and service after our ceremony back at Gretna Hall Hotel was slick with great food and caring staff.
Our expectations were met, exceeded and smashed.
We are so grateful to all of those involved in making our Day so so special.

We attended a wedding at the Gretna Green Hall Hotel on the 22nd of December 2025, and it was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The welcome and introduction were warm and professional, setting a perfect tone for the day. Everything ran to time with impressive organisation — every detail felt seamless.

The facilities were excellent, and the service throughout was brilliant. Staff were attentive and friendly, creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for everyone. It was a truly memorable occasion in a beautiful setting — we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Highly recommended for anyone considering a wedding or special event at Gretna Green!

From start to finish getting married at Gretna Green was a fantastic experience. I'd definitely recommend it to any couples considering getting married there. Our ceremony was personal, sleek and better than we'd hoped for from that first phone call enquiring about weddings at Gretna to checking out the hotel before heading home.

We had the most amazing day! Everyone at Gretna were absolutely fantastic. Jill made me feel at ease as I wasn't sure what I needed to do on the day of the wedding. The Dj provided was fantastic and the staff at our reception were also amazing. I would highly recommend Gretna. I had no stress and was made to feel calm and relaxed. The original marriage room was so lovely, 37 of us squeezed in there and I felt amazing when I walked in to see all of our family standing there.

At first we didn’t know what to expect but amber and the team soon changed that for us, we absolutely loved the whole experience from start to finish , it was everything we dreamed of and more , thank you so much for everything you did
