About The weddingsonline Awards

The dust has settled on what was a fantastic awards party at the lovely Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim, we at weddingsonline have been reflecting on the event and eagerly listening to feedback from many businesses, both winners and finalists.

The weddingsonline awards were set up to recognise excellence within the wedding sector and to reward those businesses that stand out from the crowd.

There is a very clear scoring mechanism for the independent judges to adhere to that help them to choose winners in each category.

We always set the judges the challenge of “Who would they book if they were getting married?”, based on the submissions / website / social media and reviews.

Once businesses made the shortlist (based on a public vote), the awards were then scored in the following way:

  • 60% based on your online submission
  • 10% based on your website and social media
  • 30% based on your online reviews

As wedding supplier choice is quite an emotive purchase they are rewarding businesses that stand out from the crowd with great content / imagery and video and that showcase their personality and give a positive experience to their couples.

This is also the case in terms of wedding venues, where the imagery, video, personality and warmth of the staff in the venue means more that the bricks, mortar and surroundings.

There is a very clear scoring matrix for the reviews. Marks are awarded in the following areas:

  • If your reviews are on a 3rd party site – this shows authenticity
  • The number of wedding reviews
  • Your average score
  • If you have 1 wedding review in the last 3 months and 3 in the last 6 months
  • Marks are awarded too if you respond to your reviews.

This scoring mechanism rewards great management of your reviews which in turn helps to encourage others to book your business.

We have found over the past 11 years of running the weddingsonline awards that businesses that embrace the awards and use their nomination, shortlisting and winning the award to contribute to a positive marketing experience, can really push on to new heights.

Interestingly we have seen some nominated / shortlisted clients (who have not won) positively promoting the fact that they are finalists using that as a sales tool and a springboard for their business.

Please let us know if you would like a marketing consultation with one of our team, we would be thrilled to help you make the best of your success.

Thanks for getting involved and roll on the 2021 weddingsonline awards

weddingsonline Awards Trophies

I’m just getting back to emails today, I am still in shock after winning my award! And will be on a high for a long time, believe you me. I had a brilliant night there, it was so well organised, the food was gorgeous and the music unreal. –
Brian Roche, Baker Boy Cakes, Cake Designer of the Year 2020

Still coming to terms with this, our second award of the year. I am hugely grateful for everything. Thanks to the whole weddingsonline team, especially my account manager Rory McDonald who was the very first industry professional I spoke to about advertising over 10 years ago. I’ve been with weddingsonline from day 1 and some of the seminars they have put on over the years have been where I picked up invaluable information helping me grow through the formative years. Onwards and upwards, the hardwork continues.
Ronan Quinn – Amare Stories, Wedding Videographer of the Year 2020
