Megan and Shane met as young kids while living next door to each other’s families in the same village. Megan then moved 2 miles down the road and one day when her car broke down, she asked Shane – a mechanic – to fix it. Everything sparked from there!

Shane popped the question on Christmas Day 2021. Megan thought he’d been acting funny all day, so he finally proposed in the evening when they had some alone time together.

They had a small and intimate wedding with 120 of their closest family friends and selected neighbours. The theme was ‘rustic/autumnal’, with different shades of gold, champagne, toffee and rust.

“We got married on all Souls Day. A friend made us a beautiful display frame to remember loved ones who are no longer with us. I chose surprise entertainment for our wedding based on the fact that every time myself and Shane go for a meal something always goes wrong. So I contacted Singer Secreto. I asked if the singing waiter could bang into Shane. He is still mortified to this day – they really set the tone for the wedding as they had every guest up before the meal. Honestly a great edition. Our amazing photography team made us a fantastic video for us to look back on of the Singer Secreto’s performance.”

Megan wore a Martina Liana couture gown, which was customised by adding sleeves. She purchased the dress from Love Ellie and had alterations done by Linda Sloane Couture. The head piece and earrings were made by Sarah Deering Designs.

Shane’s suit and accessories were purchased from Tomorrow’s Menswear specialists in Derry. Megan described to Raymond what she was looking for and showed him the colours we were working with.

The bridesmaids wore Folkster fabia high back dress in rust, with belts to match. Their jewellery was from Dylan Oaks and the gold block heel shoes from a local shop in Cavan Town.

The flower girls wore dresses from Wed2be and all other accessories from Monsoon and Next.

Both mothers wore two beautiful dresses from Queenbee in Fivemiletown with their head pieces made to match by Sarah Deering.

The groomsmen were also dressed by Tomorrow’s Menswear specialist in Derry.

“We had an intimate church wedding in our local parish church St Brigid’s redhills. The church was decorated by the amazing Jolanta Secret Garden Flowers. Our church singer was Lucy Kavanagh – she has the voice of an angel. Some of the Songs we used were: Broken road, A thousand years, The prayer, Where ever you will go, I get to love you, and Ho Hey.

Myself and Shane have a 3 year old and our nieces have just turned four and two. They definitely kept the entertainment going during the ceremony.”

“We chose the Hotel Kilmore for our wedding as it’s central to both families, and also based on a wedding we have attended – the grounds are stunning. The function room is the perfect size and the colour palette in the Kilmore is so neutral.

Myself and the wedding party got ready in the Kilmore and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Everything was done to absolute perfection. The Kilmore is also a tight knit hotel, ran by family and all local staff. Unfortunately not long before our wedding, the owner Ross Mealiff sadly passed away, but the hotel staff and manager really made him proud with the work they put in.”

The wedding was beautifully captured by Peter Bell Photography.

“They captured everything so perfectly, they honestly made us so confident and comfortable. My maid of honour also used Peter Bell Photography for her wedding and I booked them through her recommendation and boy am I glad I did.

We ran a bit late due to every road being closed but they made sure to capture everything and we still managed to get our photos done in Castle Saunderson. The photos are just stunning, really bringing the colours and theme together. Regarding timeline, we had some photos the day of our wedding. We had a part album within a week including a highlight video, and before Christmas I had received my full online album and the first week of February we received our full wedding video. Anything I have asked of them has been done straight away, they are honestly the best team.

As we were having a small wedding, having a photography team that as also married was a really nice touch.”

To entertain their guests, they surprised everyone with Singer Secreto midway through the meal. This was such a highlight not he day and people still ask about them.

For favours, they used Swizzle love heart sweets with their names and date of the wedding on them.

They also had a selfie mirror from Instaglam which everyone loved!

This is what Megan says about her favourite memory of the day:

“Honestly everything went so perfectly it’s hard to pick just one thing. Seeing everyone close to us celebrating with us and having a good time.”

We love asking newlyweds for their best wedding day advice. This is what Megan and Shane said:

“Enjoy the day, because as many people said to us ,”it really flies”. And don’t stress about the little things, they all come together. I made sure and used suppliers local and that all work together on a regular basis, this made everything go so smoothly.”
