Lilac Love: A Classy, But Laidback Wedding

Articles, Real Weddings

Meet Lauren and Jason! They got married at the beautiful Heritage Hotel. We love that they kept the festivities laidback, but still classy. Since Lauren’s favourite colour is lilac, that’s the theme they chose!

Lauren and Jason’s love story began when they were just kids! They met at the age of 12 and had their first date four years later. They got engaged during lockdown and their story is best told from Lauren’s perspective:

“Jason proposed in lockdown, on our 12th Anniversary. Our first date was the cinema – to see Confessions of a Shopaholic, so Jason decorated the living room like a cinema with rose petals everywhere and that film on the TV.”

Lilac is Lauren’s favourite colour so of course, that became their theme! They opted for something classy, but laid back, with no stress. Lauren is surprised that somehow she was the most chilled bride ever. As a result, the day just flowed.

Lauren wore a beautiful Justin Alexander Dress from The Bridal Outlet, along with her headpiece and veil. Her shoes were the ‘something blue,’ a sparkly little pair from River Island.

The bridesmaids wore beautiful lilac dresses from Ever Pretty. Jason and his groomsmen wore gorgeous sharkskin blue suits from CT2 in Blanchardstown. They even had the exact colour match tie for the bridesmaids dresses!

“Our ceremony was performed by the amazing Janette Wade from Spiritual Ceremonies. Jan is incredible, the ceremony was short and sweet with all the best bits included, we even had a Hand Tying Ceremony!”

The celebrations continued at The Heritage Hotel!

“I fell in love with the staircase the moment we saw it! But funnily, I had my heart set on another venue before we came to see the Heritage – Jason actually had to convince me to go to the showcase at all but once we arrived, it blew our other choice out of the water and there was no going back! Tinashe, our wedding co-ordinator, was amazing. Along with Gavin and JP on the day, they made sure everything went according to plan. We couldn’t have been more looked after.”

“Eddie from R&E Duo Photography is amazing. He had photographed our friend’s wedding (at which we were in the Bridal Party) a few years back and seeing him in action on the day, how relaxing he was and such an eye for detail we knew we’d want him for ours! Once we saw their photos we were 100% sold. I honestly felt so relaxed and in the best hands with Eddie.”

In addition to having a photography team, Lauren and Jason also wanted a wedding video!

“We booked Precious Memories for our video, after a lot of searching on the HIGM Facebook page! Anne was such a pleasure to deal with, she was so informative and helpful the whole way through and our videographer on the day, Ademir, was incredible! He was so relaxed and fun, he showed me lots of little clips throughout the day and I’m so excited to see the final result!”

To entertain their guests, they hired the band, Fallen Empire.

“Lee actually grew up across the road from my Nanny and Jason knew his brother so we’d seen them perform in the local pubs so many times over the years and always joked that if they were still around whenever we got married we’d definitely have them. We’re huge fans, Lee is just so talented, and the dancefloor was never empty! All our guests left loving them just as much as we do!”

In lieu of wedding favours, they made a donation to LauraLynn Children’s Hospice.

“Honestly the day goes so quickly, I know every bride says it but it’s true. My favourite memory was walking up the aisle with my dad and seeing Jason waiting for me. It filled me with such happiness.”

We love asking newlyweds for their best wedding advice:

“Enjoy every second of the planning, don’t let it stress you! Everything will work out on the day and even if it doesn’t you’ll be in such a happy bubble you won’t notice or mind. Do every single thing YOU want because it’s your special day.”
