The Italian Job – Real Wedding in Langhe, Italy by Extraordinary Weddings

Real Weddings

With the bride in romantic Domo Adami and the groom looking sharp in D&G, Pietro and Barbara tied the knot in the only place stylish enough to celebrate their love – Langhe, Italy. Italian based wedding coordinator Barbara Gourdain from Extraordinary Weddings Italy tied the entire event together, from the whimsical white balloons that were released into a bright blue cloudless sky after the ceremony, to the sky lanterns that guests used to light up the night. The ‘heart’ was the thread of the wedding, and the motif was included everywhere from the invitations, to menus, candles, centerpiece and wedding cake… Truly romantic.

We met… Nine years ago during a wedding show. Barbara was a model and when I met her she was wearing a wonderful white wedding gown. Nothing happened at that time, we were both engaged but we liked each other. Nine years after, we happened to meet each other and discovered that we were both living in the same neighborhood… and that we were both single, so we went out for a pizza and slowly fell in love…

Barbara’s first impressions of Pietro… Pietro was smart, funny and very sweet.

Pietro’s first impressions of Barbara… Barbara was timid, but incredibly sweet and with a disarming smile.

Our proposal… Pietro planned the proposal in a wonderful restaurant for our first anniversary. We had a romantic dinner with candles on a terrace with a stunning view. At the end of the meal, the waiter came with the desserts and I found the ring beautifully arranged on a side of the dessert dish. It was amazing!

Our ceremony… was celebrated in a wondeful neo-Gothic church. The style was very elegant but at the same time low key as we were in a small village in the country, surrounded by vineyards an dnature. The inside of the church was amazing and the music of a harp, a violin and a flute gave a magical atmosphere that was at some moments solemn and at other moments simply unforgettable!

My dress… was a 100% made in Italy by Domo Adami in tulle and lace with a coordinated lace detail.  It was love at first sight – the dress was romantic and easy to wear.

Our wedding theme/colours… As we are both quite romantic, our wedding theme was actually “love” and we chose as thread the “heart” that was the symbol we put in all the décor of the wedding in different styles and shapes (from the invitations that featured a beautiful crystal heart charm suspended from satin ribbon in our white and silver theme colours, to the menus, candels, centerpiece, seating plan and wedding cake).

The tables were decorated with an original centerpiece made with gypsophila flowers and the menu was an original booklet that has been used as placeholder printing the name of each guest on the menu cover.

The seating plan was created by the wedding planner using a panel with all the element of this wedding, painting all the element in silver to be coordinated with the wedding theme (love, hearts, angels, honey moon, jewels and diamonds, a convertible Porche that was their wedding car, sugared almonds) – very original and unique.

We chose our venue because… it was the perfect combination between modernity and country nature and because we are both food and wine lovers so we wanted the best choice that this area could offer and we agree for a famous restaurant in Barolo awarded with one Michelin Star. The aperitif was served in the courtyard of the restaurant overlooking a stunning sunset on the vineyard and surrounding hills with a natural and magic sunlight. The courtyard has a big windows with a view of the barrels of wine of the Restaurant that has a wine cellar offering selection of over 800 local, Italian and foreign wines; a special section is dedicated to Barolo.  A very interesting visit for the guests.

Our Italian wedding coordinator… We chose Barbara Gourdain of Extraordinary Weddings Italy as our wedding coordinator because we wanted to live a day out of time in the most relaxed way and our wedding planner was extremely efficient in this, suggesting us the perfect place for our ceremony and for our reception. She perfectly understood our individual tastes and personalities, turning our ideas and needs into a memorable event. It was really a dream wedding and everything we were hoping for. We had such a great time and memories that we’ll carry for ever. All our guests said our wedding was the most beautiful wedding they’ve ever attended!

My favourite part of the wedding day… There’s too many to list! I spent most of the day laughing with an incredible energy and euphoria. It would take all day to write about what we loved about it! We loved all the details that our wedding planner managed to cover, down to the candles and flowers and, in particular, the relaxed and magical atmosphere. The food was excellent and a spectacular, the presentation made it even more superb. But I think we both liked the after dinner part the most.

The courtyard was the “open bar” place that was beautifully decorated with romantic lantern lights and an illuminated corner bar where a super professional barman prepared delicious cocktails for all the guests doing spectacular flare show that reminded me Tom Cruise in Cocktail. Thanks to a great DJ and good music, all the guests danced all night long after a very spectacular moment of sky lanterns (even the little guests enjoyed this magic moment and were invited to light their own lantern). We really wished our wedding day would never finish…

My piece of advice for other brides… I would recommend other brides to get married in Langhe, as this part of Italy is really a treasure to discover and learn about! There are many charming venues set amongst rolling hills covered with vineyards and features word-famous wine, exceptional food amid stunning and unique landscapes.

I would also recommend to use Extraordinary Weddings Italy as your wedding coordinator! Barbara really loves her job and creating our dream wedding together with her was a wonderful experience. She created a fairy tale wedding that exceeded our expectations.
