This Wedding Story Is A Vintage Car Lover’s Dream

If you’re a vintage car lover, like Michael, you’ll love this wedding story. Michael and Grainne tied the knot in Galway, with a celebration featuring the things that they love most. This included vintage cars, a Jager Bomb cart, and other unique touches like the beige suits!

Couple: Michael and Grainne
Engagement length: 1.5 years
Wedding date: 2023-05-13
Wedding venue: Ardilaun Hotel
Photographer: Laura and Benny Photography

This lovely couple didn’t go with a specific colour or wedding theme. Michael is into vintage cars so they featured heavily throughout the day. He remodelled two Robin Reliant’s from Only Fools and Horses which he used for the groomsmen. His 1975 Escort which he has been remodelling since he was 15 was the main wedding car.

Grainne’s gorgeous dress was from De Stafford Bridal in Nenagh and the suits were from Jim Mcloughney’s Menswear Nenagh. Michael wanted something different, so he chose beige suits.

The bridesmaids dresses were from Folkster and the groomsmen wore the same suit as Michael.

“Our ceremony was nice and intimate. Mary Claire Ryan and Ger O Donnell did the music which was absolutely gorgeous. We had the Vintage Parlour outside the Church who had doughnuts, ice-cream teas and coffees. They were a huge hit and people stayed around the Church for a long time after the ceremony chatting, eating and drinking!”

“We chose the Ardilaun hotel as they are renowned for weddings and have a great reputation. They couldn’t have been more helpful from start to finish, nothing was ever too much. We had a large wedding and they catered for us extremely well.”

Grainne and Michael’s wedding was beautifully captured by the talented Laura and Benny Photography!

Laura and Benny were fantastic to deal with. They captured our day perfectly and we couldn’t recommend them more. We were delighted when we woke up the next morning to a sample wedding album less than 12 hours after the wedding.”

To entertain their guests, Grainne and Michael arranged for Manila Strings to entertain their guest during the reception and meal. They went around to each table and played whatever song the table requested, getting the whole place rocking! The wedding band, Flog The Dog, got the party going! Grainne and Michael love Jager Bombs so they had a Jager Bomb cart in honour of their favourite shot.

This is what they said about their favourite memory from the day:

“Very hard to pick one memory from the day but singing with all our family and friends with Manila Strings during the meal and also our first dance. We loved the ceremony part too.”

We always ask newlyweds for their best wedding planning advice. This is what they had to say:

“Relax and enjoy every minute. Everything will fall into place and the day is over before you know it.”
