1. Spelling & grammar

This is the biggest mistake couples can easily slip up on and we get it, it’s hard, we have to be careful with our spelling and grammar too. Our advise is to have a few people read over your wording before you approve anything – the more eyes on it, the more likely someone will pick up on any mistakes.

2. Under ordering

It’s always a good idea to order a few more important pieces of stationery such as your invitations and mass booklets with your initial order.

3. Not including the extra details

Your wedding invitation will act as more than just an invitation – it will provide vital information such as date, location, time and possibly details such as directions, overnight accommodation information and wedding list details.

4. Forgetting the extra costs

Whilst you may have included a base price for invitations on your wedding budget, be careful to consider costs for other items such as menu cards, place settings and seating plans too.

5. Getting your timings wrong

Sending your invitations at the right time is so important and one key detail that lots of couples slip up on. Sending your save the dates or invitations too late, and even too early, can cause you unnecessary stress during an already very busy time.

6. Not being strict with RSVP’s

We can’t even begin to count the number of couples who have told us about RSVP stress! Make it crystal clear on your RSVP notes the date you require the guests to respond by and any menu choices if you are providing that. Be clear how guests should reply – post, email, text etc.

7. Not sending all invites together

Do not begin posting or delivering your invites until they are all ready. Whispers will start easily if one of your aunts has received her invite, whilst another hasn’t. You don’t need the stress!

8. Forgetting to thank your guests

Many people will hold on to your thank you card as a sweet reminder of your day, so please don’t leave them hanging without a thank you card! It’s only good manners and so important to thank your guests for coming to your day and for their generous gift.
