Inspiration

While planning your wedding, you’ll be making hundreds of decisions. I always recommend that couples start by choosing what means most to them, prioritising those things and then tackling the rest. For some, it’s the flowers, for others it’s the party, the food or the venue. Want to know what other couples remember most and loved most about their Big Day? “All of it. From the very beginning to the bitter 5:30am end. I just adored the party atmosphere and really felt that people had a good time too… I hope!” – Claire and Johnny

“We have both said the trip from Donadea Forest where we got our photos to the Hotel was one of our favourite parts of the day. It was so special to have the time together and have the chats to soak it all in! Our first dance was also really special – the list could go on!” – Catherine and Cathal

“Very hard to pick one memory from the day but singing with all our family and friends with Manila Strings during the meal and also our first dance. We loved the ceremony part too.” – Michael and Grainne

“We have a few but I’ll never forget walking arm in arm with my dad and seeing my wife for the first time at the top of the aisle. She looked an absolute vision. The ceremony was definitely our highlight (though the craic at the reception was absolutely mighty). Our celebrant made the experience so meaningful for us and it’s a memory I will forever cherish.” – Shauna and Chloe

“Our first dance! We had Heaven by Bryan Adams that cut into the dance version half way through. The only people expecting it were our bridal party and we asked them to join us on the dance floor at the change to encourage guests to dance along. When the song changed it felt like the whole room erupted like it had been planned and practiced with everyone. Everyone sang along to the point that you couldn’t even hear the actual song playing and it was such a special moment of everyone coming together in such incredible atmosphere!” – Orla and Anthony

“I caught a sneak peek of my husband walking down the hall in the hotel before the ceremony. He didn’t know this and never saw me. The minute I saw him walking down the hall all of my nerves were gone and I felt so calm.

Another is during our ceremony we were holding hands while doing hand fasting and we were holding hands so tightly it was as if we were telling each other ‘we made it!’ without using words.” – Claire and Sean

“We live in Canada so it was amazing to have all our family and friends together. Some family couldn’t make it from Canada, they were missed. But the love we felt that day from everyone that was there was everything, and to see everyone up on the dance floor enjoying themselves was amazing.” – Megan and Leyton

“The entire weekend was so surreal, like a dream. David’s favourite memory was the first looks and mine was the first dance.” – David and Becky

Drene Plunkett

“I didn’t expect for this to be my favourite memory but it was just a beautiful moment. After the drinks reception when everyone had been called for dinner, just myself, my new husband and our bridesmaids and groomsmen were outside in the ballroom garden having a drink before making our entrance to the ballroom. And it just felt amazing in that moment celebrating our marriage together with our closest friends, having a great laugh and everyone was on such a high.” – Sionead and Mark
