Is our bride this morning, a real beauty, or what!? Anna and David were married this Spring surrounded in stunning blooms of the season at Ballymagarvey Village, Balrath. Roger Kenny from The Portrait Room, Delgany was on hand to capture this pretty wedding.
Anna and David met in a hostel in Hervey Bay whilst they were both backpacking round the East Coast of Australia in 2003.
The surprise proposal took another international feel with David popping the question during a holiday in New York when they were away with a group of friends, as Anna explained;
“Of course all our friends were all in on it while I didn’t have a clue! He had phoned my dad that day to ask for his blessing so even he knew when I phoned home to deliver the good news! We met our friends later and celebrated with a glass of bubbles in Central Park, it was perfect.”
The couple decided to get married in April of this year so had 19 months of planning and plenty of time to save money for their day. They were married in Monkstown Parish Church with their following reception in Ballymagarvey Village, Balrath. 
As they were getting married in Spring, Anna decided to make the most of the seasons principal colour of yellow and chose beautiful pale yellow gowns for her bridesmaids teamed with vibrant yellow blooms. Anna wore a simply stunning white bridal gown from Bridal Boutique, Fairview.
“I can’t speak highly enough of the ladies in the Bridal Boutique, Fairview! After selecting a number of dresses, all of which were lovely, Tina asked me how I would like to look and feel on my wedding day. From my description, she picked a dress that I had walked past – I put it on, and that was it! I also got all my accessories from there as well. The girls made it all very easy and great fun!” explained Anna.
Highlight of the day
“David’s highlight was the speeches which were hilarious! As for me, I really can’t choose one highlight, I had a ball from the moment I woke up that morning, right through to dancing my feet off with the amazing band!”
Advice for other couples
“Make lots of lists, create deadlines and stick to them! It’s surprising how much there is to do once you only have a few days left! And don’t bore your fiance with details of flowers, the cake, favours etc. It’s better to give him a few jobs, like the suits, music ideas and a haircut perhaps!!!”
