Three months after a romantic picnic marriage proposal in Paris, Lisa and Conor decided not to waste any time and were married in a beautiful, kitsch Easter/ Spring themed wedding! We love, love, love this wedding and everything that goes with it, especially the blue and orange wedding colour theme, Lisa’s fifties style wedding dress, her headpiece, the candy tables… We could go on and on! But one of the best things for us about Conor and Lisa’s day was how personal they made it – they made their own bouquets, they used vintage suitcases to display their table plan, her sister-in-law made all the cupcakes, a friend lent them the wedding car, they made their own wedding stationery and their family and friends sang in the church – really that’s what a wedding is all about!

We met… Conor was friends with Simon, my brother, for years and used to be in my house all the time. From there our friendship just grew.

First impressions of your Conor… What a hunk!!!

Conor’s first impressions of you… I thought Lisa was great fun and pretty cute!!

Our ceremony… It was absolutely stunning, very personal the readers were amazing and it made it so special and meaningful for us.

Our favourite part of the wedding… The ceremony, it meant so much to both of us to get married in such an intimate church with all our friends and family.

Our wedding theme/ colours… Easter was our inspiration and so we used a lot of bright colours throughout the wedding from the flowers to my shoes, which were orange and Conor’s suit was pale blue with an orange tie to match up with everything. We really wanted it to be fun for kids (nieces and nephews) Also, my sister-in-law Bea made LOTS of cupcakes, which were so bright and spring-like.

Our wedding menu… It was all vegetarian. The starter was a vegetable soup. The choice of mains was a pasta dish or a roasted vegetarian tartlet. The dessert was apple pie. The food, although different from the ‘usual’ wedding meal was amazing!

Our favourite wedding picture… All of them, but especially the ones taken in the stable area. The background is a little bit different than the usual wedding photos. I love the contrast between us and all of the stables. Julie had lots of creative ideas, rather than just to use the ‘pretty gardens’ and it worked so well.

My dress… It was a fifties style ‘Audrey’ dress by Blue Designer, such a simple style, but hopefully timeless.

We chose our venue because… It was local and convenient for most of our guests. Also, we really liked the country house style and decor. The interiors of Tattersalls are very warm and welcoming with lots of couches and snugs, and had the right atmosphere that we wanted our wedding day to have. Also, the grounds were brilliant – from the perfectly manicured gardens to the stable areas, there was lots to choose from for the photographs.

My advice for other  brides… Don’t have too long of an engagement where the wedding can completely take over your life. It makes the day much more enjoyable when you haven’t stressed over every little detail. The most important thing was that we both enjoyed ourselves – and that we did! Another word of advice is to make your wedding as personal as possible. We made our own bouquets, my friend lined the inside of the vintage suitcase from which we hung our table plan, my sister-in-law made all the cupcakes , my friend lent us his car as the wedding car, my two friends, brother and nephew sang in the church and we made our own invitations.

Our honeymoon… As I’m a teacher I couldn’t get the time off after the wedding to go on honeymoon, but the plan is to go to Mexico during the summer (school holidays!!) Cannot wait!!!
