Press Release 08/05/2013

Eyrebrushed Make-up Academy and Studio has opened at No. 1 The Parade offering short term and long term courses in Bridal, Fashion and Media Makeup. The introductory and intermediate courses in Makeup Artistry (Levels 1 & 2), of four and six weeks duration respectively, will commence in June and September.

The school is run by proprietor and professional make-up artist Emma Hogan Eyre, who has been living in Kilkenny since 2007. A visiting team of professional make-up artists from leading brands like MAC and Nars, and who work in fashion, media and film, will assist Emma by teaching master classes. Courses have the added advantage of being portfolio driven, according to the owner, and include beauty shoots with a fashion photographer, allowing students to prepare looks inspired by their training and have this captured by a professional photographer for the purpose of building a portfolio book.

An off-shoot of Eyrebrushed Make-up Academy – Eyrebrushed Make-up Studios – currently offers: deluxe bridal party services, occasion make-up application, one-day hobby courses and one-to-one lessons. Owing to Kilkenny’s popularity as a hen destination, Eyrebrushed is also offering deluxe hen party events serviced by a ‘Beauty Flash Crew’ of make-up artist, hair stylist and photographer.

The opening of Eyrebrushed Makeup Studios and Academy is a long-time ambition of Emma Hogan Eyre. A former music teacher, Emma switched careers several years ago to work as a professional make-up artist with Dublin-based makeup academy and agency, LA Creative. She later worked with Brown Thomas as a make-up artist and brand ambassador for Bare Minerals and as a Freelance Make-up Artist for global make-up brand Nars. She has worked professionally with TV3’s Xpose, Assets Models, First Option Models and the Miss Ireland Final pageants, amongst others.

“Eyrebrushed Makeup Academy is industry focused with the objective of training people to work in the areas of fashion, media, film and theatre.  Our tutors are professional makeup artists working with leading cosmetic brands. I’m delighted to be located in Kilkenny which has such a reputation for creativity and the arts”, said Emma Hogan Eyre.
