“I got a fab ring and my daughter got half a heart ‘best friend’ necklace and Ronan kept the other half.”
The couple: Jennie and Ronan
Wedding Date: 6th June 2015
Wedding venue: Kippure Estate, Blessington, Co. Wicklow
Photographer: Wanderley Massafelli – Massafelli Photography
We met… in Nerja, Spain at friend’s wedding.
The proposal… Ronan had rose petals going from the bedroom to the kitchen and when I walked in he was down on one knee and my daughter was jumping up and down with excitement. I got a fab ring and my daughter got half a heart ‘best friend’ necklace and Ronan kept the other half.
My hair and makeup… My hair and makeup was done by Lisa Stokes Walsh, she did a fab job. Myself, my sister and my mam got loads of compliments. Not only did she do a fab job, she made us all at ease so we enjoyed the morning and the nerves were forgotten.
The suit… We got the suits in Love Suits in Fairview, Dublin.
What our bridal party wore… My bridesmaid wore a swing dress from a retro shop in George’s Street Arcade. The flower girl dress was from Paul Costello at Dunnes with turquoise Converse. The page boy wore trousers, shirt and waistcoat with a dickey bow and turquoise Converse.
Our ceremony… We had our ceremony on the grounds of Kippure Estate with the fab backdrop of the mountains. Tom Coltan of Spiritual Ceremonies did the ceremony for us. We had a sand ceremony at the end to make my daughter feel part of the day.
We chose our photographer because… we chose Wanderley Massafelli. He had photographed a family wedding last year and we loved his work he also did my daughter’s Communion. He has a great eye for things. Also, the comments we got from our families and friends were overwhelming! They all noted how he managed to capture the feelings and the atmosphere of the wedding in every photo.
The dress… I got my dress in The Bridal Boutique Fairview. The girls were wonderful. I hadn’t any idea what I wanted and they gave me great help and listened to what I didn’t like ’till we finally found the one and it’s true what they say: When you find the one you know.
We chose our venue because…We chose our venue because we wanted something a little bit different. The venue was ours for the weekend so we could put our own stamp on it. The views are beautiful. We just fell in love with it. We did go visit other venues but once I’d seen Kippure I knew that’s where I wanted my wedding to be and I’m glad we picked it, the staff were brilliant and couldn’t have done enough for us. Jenny was in charge of our wedding weekend and she made sure everything ran smoothly and helped decorate the room. Celine was in charge of food and it was fab, it went down a treat with our guests. There was one thing we were worried about and that was the size of the bar but Chris the bar man made sure nobody was thirsty and had a bit of craic at the same time. All the staff were really friendly.
My favourite part of the wedding… We loved every minute of it.
Our wedding theme/colours… We went with a festival theme. We had turquoise, yellow, pink and white colours.
Our honeymoon… We went to Thailand and it was amazing.
My piece of advice for other brides… Enjoy every minute. Don’t stress the small stuff and don’t be afraid to be a bit different.
