Of course every bride-to-be out there wants her wedding day to go smoothly. We all want the perfect day of our dreams. Well, we’ve scoured the wild (and sometimes downright crazy) world of folklore, old wives’ tales and superstitions to bring you some unique ways to try and bring good luck to your big day.
1. Make sure your something old comes from a happily married woman. This will ensure the couple’s luck is transferred on to you and your husband.
2. It is considered the BEST of luck for a bride to find a spider in her wedding gown!
3. According to Greek tradition, carrying a sugar cube on your wedding day will sweeten your marriage.
4. Slip a coin into your shoe to ensure future prosperity. 
5. Time your vows to happen after half-past the hour the clock’s hands travelling upwards mean your marriage will only go uphill.
6. Sapphires or aquamarine stones in your wedding ring mean marital happiness and they are said to ensure a long, happy marriage.
7. Rain on your wedding day? Not to worry it symbolises fertility and children in your future!
8. Worried about tears on your big day? Don’t be! Crying on your wedding day symbolises that you have shed all your tears and will not have to shed any in your married life. It is also good luck for a baby to cry during your ceremony.
9. Lucky sights to see on your wedding day include a chimney sweep, a black cat, a lamb, a dove, a policeman, a doctor, a blind man, a toad or a rainbow!
10. And finally, mrs2be’s personal favourite, the “Where Do They Come Up With This Stuff?” superstition: If you can convince a cat to eat out of your left shoe one week before your wedding, good luck will bless your married life!
