If you’ve decided you simply must say I Do over the festive period, today we’ve got 15 brilliant treats to share that will not only impress your guests, but will also add extra magic and fun to the day. They don’t all cost a lot – because weddings do, FYI! – but we think you’ll be surprised how simple little extras will make your Big Day even more memorable.

Happy Christmas wedding planning!

1. Deck the halls with lots and lots of holly, not only does it look great but if you’ve got a bush nearby, it’s completely free!

2. Include carols in your ceremony or ask your ceremony performer to sing your favourite carol during the signing of the register.

3. Transform your photo booth into Santa’s grotto. Use Santa hats, elf ears and giant candy canes for props.

4. Gift the groomsmen Christmas socks to wear on the day, they will make a super cute photo.

5. Instead of the standard shortbread, serve mulled wine and mini mince pieces for guests arriving at the reception venue.

6. Mini wreaths make the perfect place setting or pew end.

7. Ask your venue if their Christmas tree can be decorated to match your wedding colour scheme.

8. Arrange for Santa to visit your little guests and deliver presents.

9. Use personalised crackers or tree baubles for your wedding place names.

10. Burn festive scented candles to add to the atmosphere – if you’re allowed, always check with your venue first.

12. Turkey, stuffing, brie and cranberry sandwiches will go down a treat with your guests during the evening party.

13. Make sure you don’t forget a sprig of mistletoe!

14. If your budget stretches hire a snow machine to really give a festive feel to your reception venue – again, make sure you ask if it’s okay!

15. End the day with a spectacular fireworks display, what better way is there to celebrate.
