Bridal headpiece for 2014

1. Julie from Jules Bridal Jewellery:

“I’m excited to see brides choose crowns and circlets with more of a rustic element in 2014. Think more ‘Maid Marian’ than ‘Kim Kardashian!’ I also expect brides will be somewhat moving away from the more vintage and overly-sparkly elements towards a more organic vine-like style and shape, incorporating more gold tones. We’re working on some gorgeously intricate floral based headpieces at the moment for 2014.”

2. Caroline from Dirty Fabulous vintage boutique:

“We have seen a big resurgence in the popularity of the Juliet style veil. I think the main reason has been celebrities such as Kate Moss and Lily Allen wearing veils for their own weddings. I have made a couple of bespoke beaded Juliet veils for 2014 weddings already; they are so pretty on! It’s a less dramatic version of the Gatsby / 20s style that was so popular last year. The trend that is stemming from this is a very romantic look in terms of the dress, detailed beading, soft lace and floaty fabrics, but not overly fussy in terms of the silhouette.

We have had a lot of girls looking for this style and the decade that has been hitting the mark is definitely the 70s.  The 70s gowns are a mix of boho luxe and draped goddess style gowns, so they are very effortless and easy to wear.

The tea length wedding dress is here to stay and it’s popularity continues to grow.  Ladies are becoming more confident in wearing dresses that suit their style and personality, rather than what’s just in fashion. The 1950s tea length dress offers a more informal and fun option for a bride!”

3. Jesse from Bloomsday Flowers:

“In the world of florals, trailing bouquets are going to be the big thing for 2014. Loose posies with lots of trailing foliage, vines, and ribbons look amazing, organic and relaxed.”

4. Suzanne from CocoaMoiselle:

“I’ve noticed some couples opting for either one big cake or two or three smaller cakes, and adding sweet table items like macaroons, marshmallows and cakepops. I absolutely love this idea as there is more variety for guests. Dessert tables look great when they are dressed properly. A few extra items can make such a difference to the cake table.

Royal icing is making a comeback and buttercream iced cakes are also coming into trend. Both can be used to create stunning elaborate cakes, or pretty, rustic cakes. Hand-painted and the stained glass effect are becoming more popular too, while handmade sugar flowers are still popular with couples.”

“One trend that I’d love to see take off would be more ‘un-plugged’ weddings, where guests turn off their smartphones and cameras and just focus on enjoying the ceremony and partying! Photographers end up with lots of extra elbows, heads and smartphones creeping into otherwise great shots.”

6. Andre from Gohop.ie:

“There’s a shift in which kind of holiday honeymooners are booking going into 2014, and we are seeing the two/multiple centre destinations growing in popularity. Destinations, resorts, and activities that thrilled previous newly-wed couples may now be less appealing or not as attainable for political and economic reasons. Thankfully, new trends and exotic destinations always emerge, offering Irish couples fresh opportunities for fun and relaxation. Top of the multi-destination charts for honeymooners this year include Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Cancun and Las Vegas, Kenyan Safari and the Seychelles, and Argentina and Brazil.”
