Megan & Sean’s Bundoran Engagement Session ~ { Part 1 }

Inspiration

We have one fab engagement shoot to share with you, courtesy of Donegal based photographer Christina J Irwin Photography. When I got this submission into my inbox I was really surprised (and delighted) that it was an Irish engagement session.  There was so much involved in the this shoot, that it’s coming to you in two parts!Sean and Megan's engagement photo session

Christina had come to know Megan and Sean over the years, and it was a natural choice for them to choose her as their wedding photographer.

Megan and Sean are a very fun couple whose wedding I am capturing this October. They were very enthusiastic when I offered them an engagement shoot as Sean isn’t too comfortable in front of the camera and we wanted him to see how pain free it was all going to be! – It looks like Sean had nothing to worry about!

Megan wanted something bright and fun but also with a vintage twist. They collaborated with Christina over locations, props and clothing choices. There was very little direction when it came time to take the photos as they are very much a couple in love. Their affection and personalities really shine through and it looks like they all had a great day.

We decided on a 1950s theme – I’m a bit of an old soul at heart and loved the idea of getting to dress up and do my hair in the styles and fashion of my idols. We started planning location and outfits, then browsed the web for ideas for props etc. We decided to go to Bundoran to take the pictures. It’s a beautiful seaside town with a lot of quirky vintage charm and some awesome spots to go with our theme.

There was the Adventure Centre there with rides and amusements that we thought would look amazing. Christina had so many great plans and ideas and put so much work into the shoot. We gathered our props and accessories and had such a brilliant day. Christina made it so relaxed and fun, we were so happy with how the pictures turned out they amazed us!

So, how did this fun loving couple meet?

We met in Cork where Sean is from, my mum is from there as well and we would visit our family there every summer when we were younger. Sean and I were introduced by a mutual friend Alan (Sean’s Best man). Alan’s mum and mine grew up together so Alan and I have known each other forever and he and Sean went to school together and were best friends.

Sean and I got to know each other and became really good friends. It wasn’t until almost 3 years  later (and plenty of chasing by Sean) we started going out, and we’ve been happily in love ever since.

Christina even managed to find an old car we could use for the shoot, but that’s for another day and another post!
