“Bryan and I first met in the romantic place that is The Back Bar in Rosslare, County Wexford, through a work colleague and a friend of mine!” said Niamh.

Bryan chose Niamh’s birthday to pop the special question at their home, as Niamh explained;

“Bryan presented me with lots of different sized boxes, each one had a little poem inside that led to the next box. The last box had the cryptic words, ‘So all I have left to say is…’ By that time Bryan was on one knee and asked if I would marry him, it was lovely.”

The couple both knew as soon as they started planning their wedding they wanted to keep things simple and make it as relaxed and happy as possible for their guests. Getting married in Niamh’s local church was also very important, as it is where her father is buried.

“Planning the wedding was fun as we got to include friends in the big day which included them designing our fab invites and wedding scrolls as well as my lovely friend Susie who was our photographer,” Niamh said.

On their wedding, April, 5th 2014, Niamh wore the first wedding dress she ever tried on!

“I found my dream dress in the most unusual way through my friend, who is also our secretary at work. She spotted the dress online and showed it me, I loved it but we couldn’t find any details about it. My friend is very enterprising and somehow found the make and name of the dress which happened to be a discontinued range in the label and not to be had anywhere. The name of the dress was Dorothy by La Sposa and when I heard the name of it I took it to be a sign that I had to have that dress as one of my all time favourite films is ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and at home I had my Dorothy dress costume and ruby slippers hanging up in my wardrobe!! Luckily I found a bridal boutique who had one dress left in my size, Truly Bridal in Naas, and that weekend I travelled with my mother and sisters to Kildare and fell in love with the one and only dress I had tried on and bought it there and then!” explained Niamh.

The emotional, but fun ceremony was Niamh’s highlight of the day. Having the Priest who had married her parents and conducted her fathers funeral marry them was very special.

“From the outset the ceremony was full of fun with singing Priests and lots of laughs, but also because the Priest knew our family so well he was able to share special anecdotes,” added Niamh.
