Two years after meeting through mutual college friends, Aoife, a hair stylist from Little Island, moved in with Operations Technician, John. “When the moving in together went well, we knew it was for life!” said Aoife. The couple got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2013, and were married this past February on a crisp Spring morning with their nearest and dearest in attendance. Photography on the day was captured by the very talented Rose Gowan Photography, and today we’re excited to share their unique and elegant wedding day at the Macdonald Kinsale Hotel & Spa (formerly The Carlton Hotel Kinsale).
“We wanted to keep our Big Day simple and timeless so chose a navy colour scheme. We really thought about what we wanted from the day and where we wanted it to be and went from there, choosing my local parish, St. Joseph’s Church, Little Island for the traditional ceremony, followed by the reception at The Macdonald Kinsale Hotel & Spa,” explained Aoife.
Aoife kept her bridal look in line with her classic theme and wore a pretty A-line gown from Say I Do, which was the third wedding dress she tried on. “When I saw my mums face i knew it was the one!” added Aoife.
How super cute is this little page boy?! All decked out in matching navy and white attire!
John’s Dad had a fabulous vintage motorbike that he had used on his own wedding day, he had the motorbike in pristine condition for the guys on their day.
“The day went so well but I was a little bit too nervous during the ceremony and when trying to light the candle at the beginning I needed a bit of help from the Priest since my hands were shaking so much. It was exactly like my aunt who was my maid of honour, she did the same on her wedding day 10 years and two days before our Big Day,” Aoife said.
“My highlight from the day was seeing Aoife walking down the aisle,” said John.
“My highlight was walking out of the church with my husband and seeing all of our friends and family,” added Aoife.
