The vintage theme is still going strong and we think it will be here for a good while yet! Todays bride, Emma, a teacher from County Tyrone had a clear vision of the wedding she wanted to create when the time came. As you’ll see, her vintage theme and ideas were stunning, we’re very excited to share her special day with Colum. Photography on the day was by Jude Browne, thanks for sharing with us.

Emma and Colum first met over nine years ago during a night out.

“We were both out for my friends birthday, got chatting and ended up having a bit of a dance off which reflected on our wedding day!” said Emma.

After a few dates to the local cinema and for romantic meals, Emma knew she had found her man but had a few years to wait until it was official.

“The proposal happened when were were on holiday in New York visiting friends in March 2011. Little did I know that he had it all planned and had carried the ring in his backpack from Dublin airport to Manhattan! On our third day there, 15th March 2011, he proposed to me in Central Park whilst we were having a horse and carriage ride around the park. All  of our friends helped us to celebrate and we had an unbelievable time, so good we went back last year!” added Emma.

When it came to planning their wedding, Emma and Colum decided to take things slowly and over the three years between their engagement and the wedding they made each element of the day very personal to them and created a fantastic day for their family and friends.

“I always knew I would have a vintage themed wedding, as I just love vintage things. We chose dusky muted tones for the bridesmaids, flowers and decor and added lots of bespoke touches along the way. With the help of family I was able to put my own twist on everything.  My aunt made the stationery whilst Colums aunt put together our cake ideas. We didn’t want a tiered cake so she did lots of cakes! They were amazing,” said Emma.

On her wedding day July, 5th 2014 Emma wore a tea length Justin Alexander wedding gown. Her bridesmaids wore vintage sage green dresses which worked beautifully with the theme. Colum wore a tweed waistcoat to complement the vintage theme.

“Our day was fantastic! No hiccups at all. My friend did my make up for me and my hairdressers all came to my house so all was very calm. The local butcher provided the fry up and the men all went to their local pub! The entire day was a highlight! From the photo booth caravan which was a surprise wedding present, to the slideshow of childhood photographs my sisters had planned and of course the first dance!” said Emma.

Emma’s advice for other couples

Take your time, don’t rush it and don’t go over the top!

Capture every moment as time goes so fast. This was the best bit of advice that I received and I took everything in. I am really into photographs and I wanted to make sure that I choose the best venue. So Jude met up with me to make sure that the stables in Armagh where able to capture what I was after. The photographs are treasured by ourselves.
