Louise & Eamon’s Relaxed Christmas Wedding

Real Weddings

Such a lovely couple we have on the blog today, with a great first meeting story.

Louise & Eamon's Real Wedding By Berit Alits

Clonmel couple Louise and Eamon took a stress free and relaxed approach to planning their Christmas wedding that was captured by Berit Alits Photography.

They may be from neighbouring parishes in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary but it took until they noticed each other in Cambodia, whist on separate holidays, for Louise and Eamon to meet! Following their first meeting hundreds of miles from home, it took a further two years for them to meet up again in January 2008 and they’ve been together every since!

The proposal was not in the least bit romantic but very Eamon! Eamon was working in Qatar and I was out there visiting on holidays. We were walking through a car park and he said come on do you want to buy a ring or something?’ He’s not the get down on one knee type!

On the morning of her wedding Louise slipped in to an elegant V neck gown which was the very first wedding dress she had tried on!

I was bridesmaid for my niece a couple of months before my own wedding. She had an appointment in Cinderella in Clonmel for a bridesmaid fitting. We were trying on different bridesmaid dresses when she suggested I try something for my own wedding as I hadn’t looked around at all. I had seen one dress hanging up so I said I’d try it. I fell in love with it there and then and didn’t need to try on any other dresses. I then got cold feet a couple of months later worrying that I should have tried on loads more dresses so I made an appointment for a fitting in Youghal. I tried on about 15 different dresses and it only confirmed that the original one I had chosen was the right one for me.

The ceremony was held in Ballybacon Church, Ardfinnan which had been given a rich festive touch for the Christmas celebration.

Louise and Eamon’s original plan of marrying abroad fell through, but Louise didn’t let this annoy her, instead she took a couple of hours one afternoon, sat down and booked the major suppliers for her wedding.

In an afternoon I just rang five or six people and booked everything we needed a church, a priest, a hotel, a hairdresser, a make-up artist, a photographer and a band. I knew what hotel I wanted so I didn’t even have to look around, I just rang them up and booked it. I also knew the hair stylist and make-up artist I wanted so there was no shopping around there either. I had heard our band at a couple of different wedding and always thought they were really good so again I just rang them up and booked them. All of this was done in about 2 hours. Definitely beats shopping around for months and months, and I couldn’t have been happier with everyone we booked.

The reception was held in Raheen House Hotel, Clonmel, again the Christmas touches continued with beautiful silver and navy decor.

Advice for other couples

Relax!! A couple of brides said to me that they didn’t enjoy their day at all as they were worrying about everything during the day –  whether people were having a good time etc. On the day itself there is absolutely no point getting stressed about other people. It’s your day so relax and enjoy it.
