The engagement session took place on a Sydney beach, and was shot by Rob and David from Unleashed Photography.
Colin and Orla met in 2009 while working in the Head Office for Brown Thomas in Dublin. Colin moved to Sydney later that year and Orla moved to London to work for Selfridges but she missed him so much that she packed up her life in a backpack and followed him to Sydney a year later.
“It was the best decision I have ever made and we have a great life together in Sydney”, says Orla.
Last Christmas they returned home to Ireland to see their families and while there Colin asked Orla’s father for her hand in marriage. But the proposal was not to happen in Ireland.
One Friday evening in January we were having dinner on our balcony looking out over the beach when Colin got down on one knee and proposed with a beautiful diamond ring, he had planned on waiting until our holiday in Fiji but the ring was burning a hole in his pocket!
We had our engagement shoot in May at Freshwater beach on the Northern Beaches of Sydney as it’s local and we love walking there year round. A winter shoot on the beach was in keeping with our wedding which will be at home in Ireland in April next year – and the weather is bound to be as chilly as it was the day of the engagement photo shoot!
