I’m going to say it right off the cuff, Kate Halfpenny (designer of Halfpenny London) can do no wrong, and design no bridal gown that I don’t immediately fall in love with! A bold statement to make but I stand by it and ever since her days at The Vintage Wedding Dress Company – from where the Halfpenny London brand evolved – every one of her designs has been impeccably embellished and flattering on the women who wear them.
The ‘Standing on Stardust’ collection for autumn/winter 2017 is no different. Inspired by the hedonistic club scene of 1970’s New York, the collection is an intoxicating celebration of intricate beading and powerful silhouettes. Bold heavy duchess satin trousers are teamed with a provocative structured corset; embroidered silken bees adorn the neckline of an open back silk organza top whilst skirts are embellished with dreamlike feathers and sequin details.
The collection marks an exciting direction for Kate Halfpenny and the Halfpenny London brand, with a focus on strong silhouettes and cutting edge techniques.
