Real Weddings

After quite some research, and 18 venues later, our couple today, Nicole and Andrew chose the beautiful Horetown House for their relaxed vintage style summer wedding. Their day was beautifully styled with lots of handmade touches, floral bridesmaids, a bespoke wedding dress and grooms suit and wonderful photography by Joe Conroy Photography. We adore the effort that Nicole and Andrew put into their magical weekend wedding, enjoy!

“Andrew and I first met in Supermac’s, Thurles over an ice-cream through mutual friends. When it came to proposing to me, Andrew used the children from the daycare I own to do the job for him! All the kids had a rose and sat around a table me Nicole to come in. Once I came in and sat down, one of the kids gave me a Beauty and the Beast glass dome jar with the ring and a rose in it!” explained Nicole.

After lots of discussion Andrew and Nicole finally settled on Horetown House for their wedding location, even though it was a two hour journey from their church in Clonmore. “We both wanted somewhere we could go away with our friends and family and have the exclusivity of a venue to ourselves for a weekend. The most important thing to us was that everyone could enjoy themselves and spend time together,” added Nicole.

With a rustic and handmade feel to their day burlap played a big part in the decor choices and Nicole used it throughout wedding prep. “We made all our invitation boxes and mass booklets. We made a water trough for bottled water outside the church, cake stands to hold our buns for guests on arrival. Both our dads made us an amazing popcorn stand for the second day of the wedding, and we made our favours for our guests using recycled Jam jars. We made blanket boxes and got blankets and tied them with a piece of twine with a little message on it for our guests,” she said.

On her wedding morning Nicole wore a bespoke Orlaith Carroll wedding gown. “When I started the process I was excited to be trying on dresses but I soon realised I couldn’t get exactly what I was looking for. I went to The Attic to try on dresses but got chatting to Orlaith and she mentioned she makes dresses. After a brief chat a huge weight was soon lifted as she could make exactly what I wanted. The process after that was simple, after four fittings I had the dress of my dreams thanks to Orlaith.” added Nicole.

Not to be outdone by his bride, Andrew wore a custom made suit from Louis Copeland, whilst their two of their five maids wore sage green chiffon dresses and the other three had floral chiffon dresses which complimented the natural look of the day.

Nicole’s Advice

My top tip for the bride is to get everything completely finished the week before your wedding. I was lucky enough to be in this position and the week of our wedding was the most fun I ever had with my bridesmaids and family and friends. Make sure and do everything you want to do to be happy and not try to please everyone else. Stick to what your gut says and wants. The people who care about you most will go along with whatever you want and the choices you make.
