When teachers Máire and James got married they kept their day elegant and understated with a beautiful pastel floral palette, quirky Morris Minor, full brass band and a gorgeous country reception at Barnabrow House. Thanks to Susie from Candystripe Photography for sharing this pretty day with us.
Máire and James were engaged in November and did all of their planning within four months! They are a very relaxed couple and their day was evident of this. No set theme to the day only to have lots of fun and relax with all of their friends on a beautiful sunny April day. With a great crowd of guests, the singing and dancing went on into the very wee hours with guests playing instruments and singing, keeping everyone entertained long after the band had finished. Although they had little time to plan their gorgeous day, they had everything really organised and made the day special for everyone attending. 
Hailing from different areas of County Cork, Máire and James first met at University and got engaged at Gougane Barra, also in County Cork. They chose a spring wedding last April, holding their ceremony in Waterloo Church, Blarney, Máire’s home parish.
Máire kept their day classic with pretty spring flowers and an elegant V neck dress which featured fine lace details which coordintated perfectly with her veil. Her bridesmaids wore deep blue brocade lace dresses from Monsoon, whilst her pretty little flower girl was dressed in a light dress to compliment her own. Máire’s something blue was very cute, she had one toenail painted blue. James gave her some beautiful gifts the morning of the wedding. Lots of sewing went on at the house the morning of the wedding, Maire’s sister and bridesmaid Eileen was on hand to let up hems and shorten straps.
Along with the Morris Minor they had a fab mustard Jag for the bridesmaids. Máire is a member of the Brass Band who were delighted to be included in her day. As James is a hurler, they had a guard of honour outside the church. 
James and his groomsmen were dressed in french navy suits, classic crisp shirts and pale violet ties. Their outfits were set off with large ivory rose buttonholes from The Village Florist, Castlemartyr.
Following their intimate ceremony the guest were treated to the tunes of Blarney Brass & Reed Band, before heading on to their reception at Barnabrow House. Here a few of the local residents, the donkeys, were up for getting in on the bridal portrait session!
The suite at Barnabrow House was dressed with a floral arch, vases of seasonal blooms, Máire’s sweet wheel table plan and large hanging lanterns. The evenings entertainment was provided by Papa Zitas.
Máire and James headed to Cuba following their day for a once in a lifetime honeymoon before returning to Dungourney, Co. Cork where they live.
