Such a colourful treat we have in store for you today, just take a look at Nisma and Faran’s five day traditional Muslim wedding in Clonskee Mosque and Finnstown Castle Hotel. Thanks to Mario at PhotoMV for sharing this beautiful celebration with us.
“I had seen Nisma at a party when we were just teens and instantly knew she was the one but both being quite young at the time I didn’t want to scare her with a marriage proposal. Luckily for me, after graduation I sent my mom over to ask her parents for her hand in marriage, the Muslim tradition and they agreed,” explained Faran.
Faran decided for a more Western style approach to his proposal to Nisma, something she adored!
“As many Pakistanis don’t get a personal proposal I hadn’t expected one either but on valentine’s day (after parental approval) he had asked me to come out, to my surprise he had booked a table at my favourite restaurant. Being extremely gullible he asked me look at something in the window and when I turned back around he was holding up a ring, on one knee asking me to marry him,” said Nisma.
Just like traditional Muslim weddings, Nisma and Faran’s wedding was held over the period of one week.
“We decided to take it one day at a time and spent lots of time Googling and watching You Tube videos for ideas! Family were a great help and with my dad handling catering, some of the things were already ticked off the list. We had a vision for each day and thankfully knowing the right people really helped,” explained Nisma.
Nisma had five custom designed and handmade dresses for the duration of the celebrations. Each gown was unique and had stand out design, handmade by her mum and aunt, who managed to make them in just three weeks!
“Our events varied from night to afternoon and evenings and with the same venue if a theme or colour was not chosen for each day the place would have become quite boring. I think with our Arabian background the best thing was to start with an Arabian themed night and match the colour scheme of my dresses for every other day, it worked out just right!” added Nisma.
Nisma found the first day of the celebrations the most stressful. With decor, drummers and catering staff all arriving from out of the country on the day, it was a very busy time!
