America copped on to it, and now us Irish brides have woken up to this calming wedding trend, in the form of a reception lounge. 2012/3013 saw the beginnings of this brilliant idea, but in 2014 more and more brides and grooms are adding a ‘chill out zone’ to their receptions. Find out why ..
What is a reception lounge? A reception lounge is an area dedicated to doing exactly what it says, lounging! A space kept away from the dance floor, it is a place for guests to mingle, enjoy food and drink and chat with other guests in a relaxed atmosphere. Although you may have a fantastic band on stage and the atmosphere is energetic, not everyone likes this, some prefer to take things easier and the reception lounge is the perfect place for these guests to do that!
You don’t have to totally change an area, just request for a cosy seating space to be left for you to add some nice touches that reflect your wedding day.
Go for an outdoor kitch look if you are lucky enough with the weather!
Reception lounges are especially popular with grooms, many of them see it as their personal area, where their mates can meet at! If you fancy giving your reception lounge up to the male guests, it could be used as a cigar bar, cocktail bar or even an area to kick back and catch an important sports match- now, if the bride allows that, its surely love!!
Circular seating areas like above are funky and readily available to hire from Gotcha Covered, Dublin.
What do you think, is there room for a chill out zone at your reception? We’d love to know your thoughts! Image Credits {Pinterest}
