We met… Joe and I met at a mutual friend’s 30th birthday party in London.
Our proposal… Joe proposed in the chapel of my school. We were passing by on the way to my parents and I said I’d show him my school. Little did I know he had planned the proposal and got down on one knee in the chapel of the school.
The bridesmaids wore… navy dresses from Coast with fur wraps and I found the flower girl dresses online. They had fur boots and hand muffs.
Our wedding theme… we had a winter wonderland themed wedding. We had lots of ideas and made so much from scratch including our snow globe favours, tree centrepieces and decorations, place settings and button holes.
Our ceremony… We got married in St Hippolyts Church in the town centre followed by a beautiful reception at the Schloss. The day following the wedding we went up the mountain for drinks and canapés and a photo shoot. We skied in our wedding outfits!
My dress… was by Ronald Joyce purchased from Grace and Lace in Chelmsford.
We chose our wedding venue because… We chose the Schloss Prielau as it was a beautiful Austrian castle in the snow with so much character. We were able to put our own touches to the wedding and it perfectly accommodated all our guests… About 80.
Our photographer… Claire Morgan was highly recommended on many websites for Austrian weddings. After looking at her blog and the winter weddings she has done I knew she would be perfect for our wedding.
Our entertainment… we had an Austrian band in the afternoon, a hammer and nail game, an ice sculpture and singing waiters. The waiters were a surprise for our guests after the main course. It really got the party started and they were amazing!
Our wedding coordinators… Anette and her husband run the Schloss Prielau and organise all the weddings held there. Anette’s attention to detail was amazing and everything ran so smoothly. Her husband is the chef and the food was out of this world. We couldn’t have asked for anything else. It was the most perfect wedding we could ever have wished for… I want to do it all over again. I’m biased but it’s the best wedding I’ve ever been to!
My favourite part… I couldn’t pick a favourite part as I loved every moment and it surpassed my expectations.
My piece of advice for other brides… do your research. Make it personal. We saved so much money by researching. It’s a lot cheaper to get married abroad. We stretched it out over a week so by the time the day came we could relax as we had seen everyone on the build up to it. Savour every minute as it feels just like a dream now.
