“It was great for the two of us to just sit back and talk about the fact that we had just legally married.”

We met… in Sydney, Australia in 2010 whilst backpacking.
Our proposal… was in Sydney Australia in 2011, 2 weeks after the birth of our first son.
My look… My dress was Miela by Maggie Sottero and I got it in The Moderne Bridal in Cork. My hair and make-up was done at 3 Degrees Hair Salon, Blackpool, Cork.
His suit… was from Saville Menswear, Cork.
Our ceremony… took place in Farranree Church which was my local parish growing up. It is also the parish that most of my family married in and our children were baptised in. We had the local choir for our music and used Florist4you to decorate the church. Tracy did an amazing job with the church, it looked amazing.
We chose our photographer because… his style and professionalism is exactly what we were looking for. I found Keith (Keith Touhey Fine Art Wedding Photography) through a friend who he had also photographed for her wedding. Although I was not present at this wedding I was able to capture the entire day through his photos.
Our wedding theme/colours… our theme was rustic with pastel colours and burlap/lace details. One of our bridesmaids made all our bouquets and bottonholes using lace and twine rope. Our favours included burlap bags which included thank you cards with lace details.
Our menu… consisted of fresh Hake and Beef. The menu at Garryvoe stood out to us at our first meeting with the coordinator because of its simplicity. On the day the waiting staff were amazing and there was so much food on offer even after the meals had been brought out. The staff went to each table to offer more meat and fish to our guests which was a huge hit with our guests.
We chose our venue The Garryvoe Hotel because… of the beach views, the location and the amazing reputation it had. Ben at Garryvoe Hotel coordinated everything at the hotel for us. Not only is Garryvoe local to us, it also came highly recommended from friends.
My favourite part of the wedding day… was the journey from the church to the venue alone. Our driver from Chrysler Wedding Cars was absolutely amazing and had such a calming effect on us. It was great for the two of us to just sit back and talk about the fact that we had just legally married, it was mind blowing and also a nice break in the day so that we could get our breaths back and carry on with the rest of the day.
My piece of advice for other couples… is to relax. Try not to get caught up on the small things. Your guests are there on the day to enjoy watching you and your husband say ‘I do’. Also whilst having your meal, try take a few minutes to sit back and watch all your guests enjoy themselves. Spend some time with your new husband alone be it in the wedding car, pull over if it’s a short drive or in the bridal suite while everyone else is being seated for dinner.
