Happy Friday folks! Today we thought we’d put together a little colour palette inspired by our very own fair isle, for the weekend that’s in it, with a gorgeous rustic countryside feel – plus we’ve included some great tips on how to ‘Irish up’ your big day!
A great way to add a bit of Irish to your wedding is through the food you serve – we love the idea of a Guinness and Oysters reception to start the evening off. Of course a cheeseboard will be welcomed by all whether before or after the main meal, and specially chosen Irish cheeses will give everyone an experience to remember – check out Sheridans Cheesemongers for a selection of amazing varieties from all over the country. Other foods you can serve include Steak and Guinness pies, Bailey’s moose for dessert and fish and chips for evening food!
Of course your Irish themed wedding will all hinge on your entertainment and in particular your music. A lovely idea is to include some Irish songs in your ceremony, such as Tabhair dom do lamh, or to have a harpist play. For your reception a trad band will definitely get everyone into the party mood and if you really want to get people dancing, why not hire some Irish dancers and have a bit of a ceili?!
If you want to add some Irish culture to your rustic theme you could name your tables after Irish poets or writers and include a framed page from one of their books on each table (or print out a single quote and frame it if the idea of harming a book makes you sad).
