Wedding Newspaper Trend: Read All About It

Inspiration

Say goodbye to boring wedding ceremony programs and say hello to the wedding newspaper trend! The two serve very similar purposes, but the thing I love about the wedding newspaper trend is that you can add more fun, interactive and hilarious content. It’s not just an itinerary, it’s a whole experience! Want to know more about this trend and what information you should include in your own wedding newspaper? Keep on reading!

What is a wedding newspaper?

To put it simply, a wedding newspaper is an elegant and retro trend with a similar purpose to a wedding ceremony program. You want to use this space to inform guests of important information (such as your wedding schedule or how and where they can upload photos of their own), as well as sharing stories and tid bits about your relationship (more on this below). The dual purpose of being informative while also being engaging and fun is what sets apart the wedding newspaper from your regular wedding program.

Tell your love story

A good newspaper always catches the attention of the reader with an enticing headline, great photos and of course, a captivating story. A wedding newspaper is no different! Use this space to tell your loved ones the story of how you met and got engaged. Talk about adventures you’ve been on and what you have planned for the future. And of course, don’t forget to include beautiful photos (in fact, your engagement photos will come in handy here).

Share a message

You and your other half will probably make a speech at some point in the day, but there’s no reason you can’t use your written space to share a heartfelt message to your guests. Thank them for attending your Big Day and for contributing towards your love story!

Introduce your wedding party

There will be some VIPs in attendance so it’s always a lovely touch to introduce your guests to your wedding party! These are your besties who have been with you since the beginning and will probably be partying on the dance floor with everyone later on in the night.

Important information

An informed guest is a happy guest. Share all the key details, such as:

  • A wedding schedule: Your guests will want to know what time to expect drinks, food, and the dance floor to open. Include a basic wedding schedule so everybody knows where to be and when!
  • QR code: Want everybody to take photos and upload them somewhere so you can see them too? Share your QR code in your wedding newspaper with instructions on exactly what you want guests to do and just how to use a QR code (for the boomers).

Something fun

Consider the fact that many guests will arrive well before your ceremony start time, so use this space to give them something fun to do while they wait for your arrival!

  • Wedding themed game: Create a fun game (like a crossword or wordsearch) with a wedding theme, using weddingy words and themes like aisle, bouquet, proposal and so on.
  • A you-specific activity: Using your own names, love story and locations, get your guests involved in an activity!
