These Foods Bloat – Don’t Eat Them Right Before Your Wedding

Hair, Make Up & Beauty

Let’s take a minute to talk about foods that bloat. These are the things that can make you feel super uncomfortable. They also tend to make some of us look like our bellies are bigger than they actually are.

First up, bloating could be a symptom of a bigger issue. So, we highly recommend consulting your doctor.

With that in mind, here are some foods that are known for causing bloating. Avoid eating these just before your wedding day if you want to look and feel your absolute best!

Beans and Lentils

These legumes can be difficult to digest, but some aren’t as bad as others. If you soak Pinto beans or Black beans, they’ll be easier to digest and are less likely to cause bloating. Same goes for lighter lentils. Another option, replace beans with quinoa, grains and meat.

Dairy

For some, dairy causes mild discomfort and bloating. For others, extreme pain and diarrhea. That said, yoghurt actually helps with bloating!

Fizzy drinks

High in carbonated gas, it’s no surprise that fizzy drinks are a main culprit for bloating. We highly recommend drinking lots of water (it’s also great for your skin!) or coffee, tea and fruit-flavoured still water.

Wheat

This is a pretty controversial one but you have to admit that bread, pasta, and baked goods tend to make a lot of us bloat. The good news is that there are loads of delicious wheat-free alternatives, including quinoa, pure oats, buckwheat, almond flour and coconut flour.

Cruciferous vegetables

We’re talking about broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and brussels sprouts. Cooking these will make them easier to digest. Or you could replace them with spinach, cucumber, lettuce, sweet potato and zucchini.

Onions

Onions are usually a culprit of bloating when they are raw. Cook them and add them to meals or replace them with herbs and spices.

Beer

There’s a reason for the term ‘beer belly’. If you’re looking for an alcoholic beverage to enjoy on your wedding day, choose red wine, white wine or spirits. These will cause less bloating.
