What To Do With Your Engagement Ring On Your Wedding Day

Fashion & Jewellery, Planning & Advice

Wondering what to do with your engagement ring on your wedding day? Or, if you’re honest, has this not even crossed your mind until now?

Here’s why you need to give this a little bit of thought:

Your wedding ring is traditionally worn closest to your heart. So once you’ve gotten legally married (and now have two rings to wear), your engagement ring will go outside your wedding ring.

Option 1:

Wear one ring only.

There are lots of reasons a bride may only want to wear one ring. Perhaps you’re soldering the two rings together prior to the Big Day and therefore you’ve only got one ring to place on.

Whatever your reasons, if you choose to wear just one ring, then go for it.

Option 2:

Wear your engagement ring on your right hand for the ceremony.

This way, when your partner places your wedding ring on your actual ring finger, there’s nothing in the way. At some point during the day, you can simply switch your engagement ring over to your left hand again.

Option 3:

Wear your engagement ring on your left hand as usual.

Then, have your partner place your wedding ring on your ring finger and swap the order of the rings around later in the day.

Option 4:

Don’t wear your engagement ring.

Your simplest option might be not to wear your engagement ring at all on your wedding day!
