Temp drop to fight infection

Has anyone had any experience of baby's temp dropping to fight infection? Had a desperate weekend last wk where DS ended up in A and E. The end result was his temp drop to 34 was his way of fighting infection.. Im going to follow it up but has anyone any experiences?
