I got married last year, Holly's Horse Carriages wasn?t on this forum at the time but she is now so I want to give her a huge shout out!

We had a city wedding (Dublin). I wanted a horse and carriage to take us from from the pub (Stags Head) after our ceremony to our venue (Kings Inns) to give us both a half an hour on our own, a little time out together. A car would have been too quick! It was the best decision ever.

I sent emails to 4 or 5 horse and carriage businesses, all came back around the same price which I thought was pretty expensive. Then I got a reply from Holly Rachel Ward. In it she clearly set out what her price covered and why. A lot of work goes into preparing herself, her horse and her carriage. And work in cleaning down after. I hadn?t thought of that. Her unique selling point completely hooked me, she is Dublin?s first female licenced carriage driver. (Could be the only one?) She was 19 at the time, set up this business herself, refurbished her stunning carriage herself. By hand. I was struck by how brave and business savvy this young woman was. Then we met the lovely Holly in person on the day. She pulled up with her horse and carriage on Dame st., to collect us. She was dressesd head to toe in full traditional carriage driver uniform, top hat and all. All I can say is... Brains and Beauty! Holly was amazing, gave us Prosecco to drink in the back as she navigated her way so skilfully through the city traffic. How she didn?t get a wheel caught in the luas tracks I don?t know! We were blessed with a scorching summers day! Bystanders were waving at us as we clicked clacked up O?Connell Street. At one stage the car behind us was taking photos through their dash board! Confession? I loved it!! Like full on Meghan Markle!! To finish it off, we drove up through the cobbled stones of Georgian Henrietta Street and through the stone archway to the front of the historic buildings of Kings Inns. Holly helped us step down from the carriage where we greeted by Claire Malone wedding singer who serenaded us as we walked to the door with the rest of our guests, we got stunning photos. It was a fairytale from beginning to end, I highly recommend getting a horse and carriage if you can afford it and if the itinerary permits it. For sure it?s an extra cost but worth every penny in my opinion. Thanks you so so much Holly for going way beyond our dreams and expectations and giving us those special moments on our day which we will treasure in our memory forever. Myself and me?Hubby wish you all the success in the world for your (not so new anymore) business!
