You can use the full suite of rooms – the entrance hall, elegant morning room, ballroom, dining room and drawing room for your dinner and receptions.
Bespoke weddings are what we do best. Here’s a little about the choices Slane Castle offers:
Our rooms
Let’s start right inside the main door in the impressive main hallway which is a stunning location for a drinks reception with fine Doric columns and magnificent plasterwork compete for attention and are beautiful for indoor photos. U2s video for Pride (In the Name of Love) was filmed here so your party can buzz off that rock history in the making.
The King George IV Ballroom is a truly remarkable room and one of the finest examples of neo-gothic architecture in the entire country. It’s a circular room with perfect acoustics and a spectacular ornate ceiling and is ideal for an intimate meal (up to 100 guests).
The Gandon Room is a completely different and more modern option for dining, designed in a warm, inviting club style. Accommodating 60 guests, it’s a contemporary alternative within the historic castle. A gracious wedding ceremony in the Ballroom followed by dinner in the Gandon Room is a popular choice for couples.
The Castle Courtyard Marquee
For larger groups of 100 - 200, the Castle Courtyard is the perfect place for a superior marquee, sheltered on all sides and close to the Castle entrance.
Accommodation
We currently have eight luxury double bedrooms, each designed to their own uniqueness. Expect four-poster beds, sumptuous furnishing hint at stories and maybe even scandal … The King’s Room, The Earl & Countess… Alternatively, there are glamping options available on the estate at Rock Farm, an ecotourism, activity centre and organic farm.
Don’t forget day two!
Extend your day with a day two option and there’s nowhere else quite like Browne’s Bar, a cosy room named after the Castle housekeeper, Mary Browne. The bar boasts a fascinating Slane rock concert theme and the memorabilia from 40 years of high profile rock concerts make mesmerising reading. If these walls could talk, they’d tell some stories. It’s no stranger to great live music and jazz sessions into the wee small hours and is available for private functions up to 40 guests, including the cosy snug. The Gandon Room is the signature restaurant within the castle is inspired by James Gandon, one of the principal architects of the Castle. He also designed the Customs House and the Four Courts in Dublin. An elegant and dramatic room, it has been transformed into a comfortable and glamorous restaurant with Gandon’s original designs for the Castle on display in the bookcase and can accommodate up to 60 guests. Lastly and not forgetting our world-class distillery, Slane Whiskey. Offering private tours and whiskey masterclasses it’s the perfect way to salute your wedding at the Slane Estate.
