We specialize in unforgettable 3-day wedding events, giving you the time and space to truly make the Castle your own for the entire weekend with exclusive use. Welcome your guests with a festive rehearsal celebration on Friday, enjoy your dream wedding day on Saturday, and unwind with a relaxed organic Pig on a Spit or BBQ gathering on Sunday.
Your entire wedding can take place here on the 1500-acre Slane Castle Estate, from the ceremony itself to a sit-down banquet in our magnificent Gothic Ballroom, Castle Courtyard Marquee or more intimate State Rooms.
You will be greeted on arrival into our impressive Great Hall which is a stunning location for a drinks reception, with it's fine Doric columns and magnificent plasterwork compete for attention and are beautiful for indoor photos. U2's video for 'Pride (In the Name of Love)' was filmed here so your party can buzz off that rock history in the making!
Ceremonies
Slane Castle offers the beautiful historic Ballroom, sweeping front lawns or a host of more intimate State Rooms for an array of ceremonies including civil ceremonies, humanist blessings and multi-denomination ceremonies. There are also a number of churches located in nearby Slane Village and the local area.

Intimate Weddings (15+ guests)
We specialise in Intimate Weddings of 15 guests & above at Slane Castle and would be delighted to tailor a bespoke Intimate Wedding package for you. We have a range of options and spaces available to create your unique day.
Gothic Ballroom Weddings (up to 106 guests)
The amazing Neo-Gothic Ballroom was completed in 1821 for the visit of King George IV. An ideal venue for small, informal, or intimate banquets for up to 106 guests.
Courtyard Marquee Weddings (107-250 guests)
For larger weddings we arrange an outdoor marquee which caters for 107-250 guests, located in the Castle Courtyard right next to the Castle itself.
You will still have full use of the Main Floor of the Castle for both your arrival reception & your evening entertainment.
Accommodation
We currently have seven luxury double bedrooms, each designed to their own uniqueness. Expect four-poster beds & sumptuous furnishings hinting at stories and maybe even scandal … The King’s Room, The Earl & Countess… For additional guests, our sister property on the Slane Estate, Rock Farm, offers eco-friendly glamping & holiday homes just across the Boyne river from the Castle, and we have a selection of local B&Bs, guesthouses and hotels we can recommend.

We are delighted to host night before and day after celebrations at the Castle and can tailor custom events to suit your friends & family, from private guided tours of the Castle, Whiskey Tastings & Masterclasses in the world-class Slane Irish Whiskey Distillery, a relaxed BBQ or Pig on the Spit in the Castle Courtyard with fully organic Rock Farm produce, or a formal dinner in one of our State Rooms, we can create a bespoke experience to suit your exact requirements.
Our Lower Ground Floor features the Castle Courtyard, Gandon Room Restaurant & our very popular Browne’s Bar, a cosy room named after the Castle housekeeper, Mary Browne. The bar boasts a fascinating Slane rock concert theme and the memorabilia from 40 years of high profile rock concerts make mesmerising reading. If these walls could talk, they’d tell some stories. It’s no stranger to great live music sessions into the wee small hours .
From the very beginning Shiyra (castle wedding coordinator) was absolutely wonderful in walking us through the process. She sent lists of vendors that the castle had worked with before, all of whom ended up being fantastic to work with, She was also very flexible in setting up our tasting once we finally did make it to visit the castle, and kept us on a timeline of what needed to be done next. She also would connect directly with vendors (flowers, cake) to organize deliveries and finalize numbers.
We hosted a 3 day event at the castle, moving in on Friday and Staying until Monday morning. We used Browne's Bar for a 60 person rehearsal dinner on Friday night (and then going into the adorable town of Slane for a larger drinks event). The food was fantastic and the bar itself has such cool memoribilia that everyone enjoyed.
Saturday we had nearly 40 people getting ready in the castle (spread out among the 7 bedrooms and a wonderful upstairs living room with full kitchen), and had plenty of space to do so. The bedrooms are giant and decorated beautifully. The ceremony we held in the Ballroom with 210 people (160 seats, with everyone else standing which worked quite well). It is probably the most beautiful room I've ever seen. Afterwards cocktail hour was on the entire first floor of the castle, and Shiyra was wonderful about making sure our speciality cocktails were set out for everyone as they exited the room (we never had an issue with a bar line at any point).
Dinner was outside in the Marquee tent in the courtyard (heated, came with lights strung up on the ceiling, looked gorgeous). The AV system for speeches worked flawlessly and the food was spectacular.
We then moved back to the ballroom where the band was set up, before finishing the night in the basement night club for a few hours of a DJ (yes that is as cool as it sounds).
Sunday's event we did as a "hunt" and the whole castle was open to our guests, with a Pig Roast the castle organized out in the marquee complete with croquet on the front lawns (provided by the castle) and a falconer (brought in from outside). The Conyngnham family attended as well who own the castle and were absolutely lovely to get to know. They also opened the distillery for tours that day which many of our family and friends took advantage of. We just woke up on Sunday and everything was set up, nothing for us to worry about or decisions to make.
Overall, it was incredible showing up and having the staff take care of everything from setting up our guestbook/card box to serving breakfast in bed on the morning of (at the brides request). I could not have felt more like a princess, and all of our friends and family had the best time.
