Slane Castle

My husband and I could not be happier with our choice for a wedding venue. We live in the United States and booked Slane Castle without visiting beforehand. We connected through our love of music, and got engaged in Ireland in 2023, so this was really the perfect venue for us. That being said, Shiyra made the entire process so easy and stress-free. We were provided a list of vendors and so much information to help us with our planning. Any time we had a question (which was quite often since we didn’t have a wedding planner) Shiyra always got back to us with answers in a timely manner. While at the castle, Shiyra and the entire staff were so kind and accommodating. Our guests even had a great time with the bartenders and servers. The venue was stunning, the decorations the castle provided were beautiful, and the food was delicious. Our friends and family are still talking about how amazing the castle was. I cannot recommend it enough for a wedding. You won’t be disappointed!

Slane Castle is the most perfect wedding venue I could imagine. I live in the United State and actually booked the venue without seeing it in person (knowing we wanted a castle that we could live in for the weekend, close enough to Dublin for easy access from the US, and to hold >200 people). It was all of those things, especially an easy ride from Dublin with a lovely town that most of our wedding guests were able to find accomodation in.

From the very beginning Shiyra (castle wedding coordinator) was absolutely wonderful in walking us through the process. She sent lists of vendors that the castle had worked with before, all of whom ended up being fantastic to work with, She was also very flexible in setting up our tasting once we finally did make it to visit the castle, and kept us on a timeline of what needed to be done next. She also would connect directly with vendors (flowers, cake) to organize deliveries and finalize numbers.

We hosted a 3 day event at the castle, moving in on Friday and Staying until Monday morning. We used Browne's Bar for a 60 person rehearsal dinner on Friday night (and then going into the adorable town of Slane for a larger drinks event). The food was fantastic and the bar itself has such cool memoribilia that everyone enjoyed.

Saturday we had nearly 40 people getting ready in the castle (spread out among the 7 bedrooms and a wonderful upstairs living room with full kitchen), and had plenty of space to do so. The bedrooms are giant and decorated beautifully. The ceremony we held in the Ballroom with 210 people (160 seats, with everyone else standing which worked quite well). It is probably the most beautiful room I've ever seen. Afterwards cocktail hour was on the entire first floor of the castle, and Shiyra was wonderful about making sure our speciality cocktails were set out for everyone as they exited the room (we never had an issue with a bar line at any point).

Dinner was outside in the Marquee tent in the courtyard (heated, came with lights strung up on the ceiling, looked gorgeous). The AV system for speeches worked flawlessly and the food was spectacular.

We then moved back to the ballroom where the band was set up, before finishing the night in the basement night club for a few hours of a DJ (yes that is as cool as it sounds).

Sunday's event we did as a "hunt" and the whole castle was open to our guests, with a Pig Roast the castle organized out in the marquee complete with croquet on the front lawns (provided by the castle) and a falconer (brought in from outside). The Conyngnham family attended as well who own the castle and were absolutely lovely to get to know. They also opened the distillery for tours that day which many of our family and friends took advantage of. We just woke up on Sunday and everything was set up, nothing for us to worry about or decisions to make.

Overall, it was incredible showing up and having the staff take care of everything from setting up our guestbook/card box to serving breakfast in bed on the morning of (at the brides request). I could not have felt more like a princess, and all of our friends and family had the best time.

You cannot get a better venue than this!

We had the most amazing time at Slane Caslte for our Wedding. We stayed in the castle the night before with our families, it was a fantastic way to start the celebrations and waking up the morning of the wedding in a castle was just magical!
Our guests were delighted with the venue, half our guests came from Scotland so it was a great experience coming to an Irish castle to celebrate.
I can’t praise Slane enough. The food was unreal everyone loved their meal, the quality and presentation were fabulous. The ballroom was such a beautiful place to have our ceremony and to have the entire caslte to ourselves for the day made it so special.
Every single member of staff were so lovely, they couldn’t do enough for us and everyone commented on how great they were. Alex was so welcoming and came to see us the night before with and the morning of when we were having our breakfast.
Both on the day and during the run up to our wedding we were so we’re so well looked after by Shiyra. She was so amazing from the day we first visited all the way through to the day. We were totally at ease throughout all of the organising, I cannot sing her praises enough she was just fantastic and was such a lovely calm presence on the day, she had everything under control we didn’t need to think about anything except just enjoying our day. She has such a wealth of knowledge about the castle and it so amazing at what she does. We even had a problem with one of our vendors and we were helped out with this too, we were so grateful we had nothing to worry about and just felt so well looked after. I can’t recommend Slane enough for a wedding we had such an amazing day. Thank you so much to everyone at the castle ❤️

We got married on the 18th of August and the service provided by the Castle staff was exceptional.

Being based in Japan we had to do the majority of wedding organisation through email and Zoom. From our first email, which was replied to in a way that clearly indicating that Slane had read it and what we were looking for information on (unlike the responses from some other venues), through a number of online meetings with the staff through to the final wedding date, everything was handled in a relaxed but highly professional level by all the staff.

The organisation on the wedding day, headed by Shirya was superb and was more than we could have imagined.

A number of our guests commented on the food that was exceptional and deserves special mention.

We only visited Slane Castle when picking out venues and knew right then and there this is our venue. We loved the castle from visiting it throughout the years and never in a million years did we imagine we will get married in the beautiful Ballroom where our most beautiful photos were taken. Shiyra is such a pleasure to work with and was open to all our suggestions and hundred questions. She helped us through the planning process with kindness and professionalism. She is a great addition to the castle 😊

The food was amazing and so much of it! We were worried guests would go hungry but from the amount leftover you could feed another party 😀

We used the Brownes Bar for the after meal entertainment and everything was perfect for our intimate wedding. All our guests were in awe of the place and its uniqueness.

Slane Castle is such a magnificent place and the service we got for the big day was top notch. It will always hold a special place in my heart 😊

As a couple living in the US and with no connections to Ireland with 40 guests expected, we looked into just about every castle in Ireland that was available for wedding celebrations and we selected Slane Castle because (i) we wanted a venue that was convenient to our guests that were all traveling, with the exception of one, from other continents and (ii) had a nice area configuration (for example, several other castles that were older had really oddly shaped, such as long and skinny, rooms). Also, and this is a low bar, but we reached out to a number of venues that never responded back to us, or, in one case, surprisingly responded months later (the odd thing is that our photographer worked with an event that was at that venue so apparently there are people that work there?). I wanted a place with delicious food and with things to do since we didn’t do our ceremony there, so we gave our guests the option to do either a castle tour or a whiskey distillery tasting. The event planner, Shiyra, is professional, helpful, and efficient. Excellent venue choice, lovely accommodations and really went above and beyond to make our vision come true.

Slane Castle was the first and only wedding venue we visited. We didn't need to look any further. it ticks all the boxes and more.
Shirya and Cheryl are such an asset to this place. They are amazing at what they do and helped us plan our day with ease. We chose an intimate wedding for day 1 and then celebrated with friends and family in the courtyard/brownes bar with a bbq, band, DJ, for day 2. There wasn't a request we made which they weren't able to meet. They sorted any mishaps discreetly in the background without fuss, continuously checked in with us throughout the day, ensuring we were happy with how everything was going.
The food was fantastic. The chef Lucho was not only excellent at his job, he was also extremely friendly and included our children in all aspects of the day - chocolate waffles for breakfast was always going to be a winner!!
Alex and Carina were beyond welcoming, putting us at ease and encouraging us to make ourselves at home.
Slane Castle already held very special memories for us from attending concerts through the years, but getting married there will always be our favourite. Thank you so very much to all the Slane Castle team for all you did for us, for our families and for our guests. Highly highly recommend.

Only one word can describe our wedding at Slane Castle.......AMAZING!! We knew from the start we wanted a venue that was a bit different from the norm, and Slane Castle holds so many great memories for us throughout the years, it was the perfect spot.
From initial planning, Shiyra was just a dream to deal with. Everything was so efficiently handled and gave us so much support and advice on the run-up to the big day.

Having our ceremony in the ballroom was just so special, the atmosphere of this room takes your breath away and is the most beautiful backdrop for photographs!

The food was just out of this world, from the menu tasting to the dinner, there was nothing we changed! Every guest still talks about the "best steak they ever had'! Cheryl and her team were so attentive to every guest but also had that sweet spot for keeping a relaxed presence.

For us, we didn't want the usual big band and dancefloor for the afters, so we chose to use the Gandon Restaurant and Browne's Bar for the evening entertainment. Filled with Rock n' Roll memorabilia, plush chairs, and an edgy style, it was the perfect spot for our 2 piece band to fill the air with covers from Bon Jovi to U2! Perfection!
A shout out to Rob, he just runs the bar like clockwork and kept the craic going and drinks flowing right into the early hours!

Waking up in a castle is truly an experience in itself as we tucked into a full Irish breakfast and THE most delicious croissants! The staff the following morning were also so friendly and attentive!

We really cannot recommend this venue enough for a wedding, it's not a polished 5* hotel, and that is EXACTLY why we love it. It just oozes charm around every corner, steeped in history and ran by an absolute dream team. Thank you so so much to everyone!

We were a COVID couple who were on the verge of cancelling our wedding celebration until we went to a viewing at Slane Castle.

We loved the castle right away; it is a magical venue for any event, especially a wedding. The coordinator, Shiyra, was so helpful and professional; she made the planning so easy for us and kept us on track.

The team at Slane Castle, including Cheryl, the banqueting manager, were so professional and helpful. They easily adapted to last-minute changes leading up to the wedding but also made it so enjoyable for us, beforehand and on the day.

Every guest who attended the wedding told us how much they loved the grandeur of the venue mixed with a lovely, easy-going, welcoming atmosphere. They are still talking about how it was one of the best weddings they had attended.

Slane Castle provided a breathtaking backdrop, with its history and grandeur adding an air of majesty to the event. The castle's accommodations and spaces were absolutely beautiful, and the food and drinks were top quality.

All the staff on duty, from the breakfasts, to the buffet, to the wedding banquet, worked as a team and made sure all our guests were well looked after. A shoutout to the bar and floor staff for all their hard work and to Rob for his amazing dance moves!

Slane Castle didn't just host our wedding; it enhanced the entire experience, leaving us with memories we will cherish forever. A big thank you to everyone at Slane Castle for making it such a special day.

We got married at Slane Castle and we had such a fantastic day and night ! Shiyra and all the staff at Slane Castle were an absolute dream to work with ? nothing was a problem and Shiyra was always readily available whenever we had a query or wanted to change something. The setting was honestly so fabulous both inside the castle and on the grounds? we got some stunning photographs of our day. The food was fantastic and there was plenty of it so no one went hungry? I would 100 percent recommend Slane castle as a wedding venue ? you won't be disappointed.

The venue is unforgettable and makes for a really unique wedding. The castle is exclusive, making the atmosphere intimate - there's no non-guests so everyone interacts really well and gets to know each other. Our guests are still raving about it! Its impressive, but at the same time, it is intimate and special. We had the best day ever at Slane- it was a dream come true!"
