Slane Castle

Slane Castle is the most perfect wedding venue I could imagine. I live in the United State and actually booked the venue without seeing it in person (knowing we wanted a castle that we could live in for the weekend, close enough to Dublin for easy access from the US, and to hold >200 people). It was all of those things, especially an easy ride from Dublin with a lovely town that most of our wedding guests were able to find accomodation in.

From the very beginning Shiyra (castle wedding coordinator) was absolutely wonderful in walking us through the process. She sent lists of vendors that the castle had worked with before, all of whom ended up being fantastic to work with, She was also very flexible in setting up our tasting once we finally did make it to visit the castle, and kept us on a timeline of what needed to be done next. She also would connect directly with vendors (flowers, cake) to organize deliveries and finalize numbers.

We hosted a 3 day event at the castle, moving in on Friday and Staying until Monday morning. We used Browne's Bar for a 60 person rehearsal dinner on Friday night (and then going into the adorable town of Slane for a larger drinks event). The food was fantastic and the bar itself has such cool memoribilia that everyone enjoyed.

Saturday we had nearly 40 people getting ready in the castle (spread out among the 7 bedrooms and a wonderful upstairs living room with full kitchen), and had plenty of space to do so. The bedrooms are giant and decorated beautifully. The ceremony we held in the Ballroom with 210 people (160 seats, with everyone else standing which worked quite well). It is probably the most beautiful room I've ever seen. Afterwards cocktail hour was on the entire first floor of the castle, and Shiyra was wonderful about making sure our speciality cocktails were set out for everyone as they exited the room (we never had an issue with a bar line at any point).

Dinner was outside in the Marquee tent in the courtyard (heated, came with lights strung up on the ceiling, looked gorgeous). The AV system for speeches worked flawlessly and the food was spectacular.

We then moved back to the ballroom where the band was set up, before finishing the night in the basement night club for a few hours of a DJ (yes that is as cool as it sounds).

Sunday's event we did as a "hunt" and the whole castle was open to our guests, with a Pig Roast the castle organized out in the marquee complete with croquet on the front lawns (provided by the castle) and a falconer (brought in from outside). The Conyngnham family attended as well who own the castle and were absolutely lovely to get to know. They also opened the distillery for tours that day which many of our family and friends took advantage of. We just woke up on Sunday and everything was set up, nothing for us to worry about or decisions to make.

Overall, it was incredible showing up and having the staff take care of everything from setting up our guestbook/card box to serving breakfast in bed on the morning of (at the brides request). I could not have felt more like a princess, and all of our friends and family had the best time.

You cannot get a better venue than this!

Slane Castle was the most amazing venue ever. We had the best experience with Shriya and team and the Conyngham family were so welcoming.
From the first time we visited the castle we were made to feel at home and wowed by the most amazing building with rich history. Everyone went above and beyond during the leadup and on the day to help us with everything and make it all perfect.
Our families and friends had the most amazing time and I could not recommend the venue more- they really make you feel at home and offer 11/10 customer service. Thank you so much!

We got married on the 18th of August and the service provided by the Castle staff was exceptional.

Being based in Japan we had to do the majority of wedding organisation through email and Zoom. From our first email, which was replied to in a way that clearly indicating that Slane had read it and what we were looking for information on (unlike the responses from some other venues), through a number of online meetings with the staff through to the final wedding date, everything was handled in a relaxed but highly professional level by all the staff.

The organisation on the wedding day, headed by Shirya was superb and was more than we could have imagined.

A number of our guests commented on the food that was exceptional and deserves special mention.

From start to finish we would highly recommend a wedding at Slane castle . On build up Shiyra the castle wedding planner helped us so much then on the Wedding day .. Shiyra had our day running like a masterpiece clockwork .. ( bride with help on Shiyra’s knowledge) was running 15 mins early . So time for more photos and Prosecco … ( poor groom probably felt I ran off) Shiyra even came back to work to greet us next day at breakfast. So anyone looking for a wedding venue we would highly recommend Slane Castle Owners too we’re so interested and involved in the build up to our wedding. So bride and grooms . Please choose Slane Castle . We felt we were King and Queen of the castle xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

As a couple living in the US and with no connections to Ireland with 40 guests expected, we looked into just about every castle in Ireland that was available for wedding celebrations and we selected Slane Castle because (i) we wanted a venue that was convenient to our guests that were all traveling, with the exception of one, from other continents and (ii) had a nice area configuration (for example, several other castles that were older had really oddly shaped, such as long and skinny, rooms). Also, and this is a low bar, but we reached out to a number of venues that never responded back to us, or, in one case, surprisingly responded months later (the odd thing is that our photographer worked with an event that was at that venue so apparently there are people that work there?). I wanted a place with delicious food and with things to do since we didn’t do our ceremony there, so we gave our guests the option to do either a castle tour or a whiskey distillery tasting. The event planner, Shiyra, is professional, helpful, and efficient. Excellent venue choice, lovely accommodations and really went above and beyond to make our vision come true.

After looking at a few venues and then Slane Castle, we knew Slane Castle was the only venue for our special day. From the first tour to leaving the castle, Shiyra, the wedding coordinator was amazing to work with. From answering every single question to being there on both days of the wedding, she always had a smile on her face. We would recommend Slane Castle just from working with her!
But on top of that, it is amazing venue. We had a large wedding of 220 in the marque in the courtyard but we’re still able to use the castle before and after. The staff throughout the wedding day and the day 2 bbq were friendly and accommodating for any request. We can’t wait to visit Slane Castle again in the future for even more memories!

Only one word can describe our wedding at Slane Castle.......AMAZING!! We knew from the start we wanted a venue that was a bit different from the norm, and Slane Castle holds so many great memories for us throughout the years, it was the perfect spot.
From initial planning, Shiyra was just a dream to deal with. Everything was so efficiently handled and gave us so much support and advice on the run-up to the big day.

Having our ceremony in the ballroom was just so special, the atmosphere of this room takes your breath away and is the most beautiful backdrop for photographs!

The food was just out of this world, from the menu tasting to the dinner, there was nothing we changed! Every guest still talks about the "best steak they ever had'! Cheryl and her team were so attentive to every guest but also had that sweet spot for keeping a relaxed presence.

For us, we didn't want the usual big band and dancefloor for the afters, so we chose to use the Gandon Restaurant and Browne's Bar for the evening entertainment. Filled with Rock n' Roll memorabilia, plush chairs, and an edgy style, it was the perfect spot for our 2 piece band to fill the air with covers from Bon Jovi to U2! Perfection!
A shout out to Rob, he just runs the bar like clockwork and kept the craic going and drinks flowing right into the early hours!

Waking up in a castle is truly an experience in itself as we tucked into a full Irish breakfast and THE most delicious croissants! The staff the following morning were also so friendly and attentive!

We really cannot recommend this venue enough for a wedding, it's not a polished 5* hotel, and that is EXACTLY why we love it. It just oozes charm around every corner, steeped in history and ran by an absolute dream team. Thank you so so much to everyone!

My husband & I got married at Slane on February 8th. Writing a review means that the moment is largely over and Slane is honestly more than a venue to us (so it took some time). The more I thought about it… the space that a couple chooses to celebrate love, family and friends should be more than a venue. Weddings are painted as this idyllic setting where harps play celebratory music and doves fly in unison over a rainbow’s arch. In reality, weddings are more comparable to a scene in Braveheart. Rivers of tears, bodies everywhere, wardrobe casualties, etc. When you are in the thick of it, you want a team of people that aren’t afraid to help hoist up your Spanx or hold a vodka drink up to your mouth during body tape application.
The Slane Squad had us. The guests raved about the Michelin-level cuisine. The rooms were gorgeous - unique in design and the beds were coma-inducing. The castle as a whole left everyone speechless more than once and trust me that is no small feat with our group. I was escorted out of the dinner/reception space when waves of uncontrollable sobs threatened to remove all of my makeup. I had a sincere, visceral response to how stunning the room was. An entire castle of people dove head first into a pool of 80 Americans and treated every single person like family… rowdy southerners included. Planning a wedding in Ireland while residing in Pennsylvania would have been impossible without Shiyra. This gorgeous blonde, Irish fairy-dream was our right hand and a major link to our sanity. My chest will always swell with gratitude and immense love when I think about Shiyra... I would have been irrevocably lost without her. Eric and I secured the different pieces but it was the magical team at Slane that weaved it all together. Rob was as smooth and tactical as he was handsome. He was a bartender, a widely-favored dance partner, protector and my personal shield from chaos. And Cheryl… stunning Cheryl. She was the exhale when we were bracing ourselves for impact. Cheryl wrapped us in her billowy blanket of calm and left no room for worry. Every person there was kind enough to lie to me when I asked if I looked hungover or if I was being as nutty as a Snickers bar. Our wedding weekend will hold a place in our hearts that even to this second gets us both emotional. It was everything and everything would mean nothing if we didn’t have Slane (pardon the Alicia Keys reference). To Alex & family, Shiyra, Cheryl, Rob and every single staff member, we cannot thank you enough.

We got married at Slane Castle and we had such a fantastic day and night ! Shiyra and all the staff at Slane Castle were an absolute dream to work with ? nothing was a problem and Shiyra was always readily available whenever we had a query or wanted to change something. The setting was honestly so fabulous both inside the castle and on the grounds? we got some stunning photographs of our day. The food was fantastic and there was plenty of it so no one went hungry? I would 100 percent recommend Slane castle as a wedding venue ? you won't be disappointed.

We had our wedding at Slane Castle in November 2022, and we were so fortunate to have found such an beautiful venue with a truly fantastic wedding team. They really went out of their way to ensure that every detail of our wedding was taken into account. When we had a bit of an unexpected health situation (when most venues probably would have cancelled on us), the wedding team did everything they could to work around the issue and make sure everything ran as smoothly and safely as possible. We ended up having a brilliant celebration and couldn't be happier with our choice of venue.

If you're planning a wedding, we definitely recommend taking a look at Slane Castle. The castle itself is gorgeous, and the wedding team is an absolute pleasure to work with and will look after your every need.

?I cannot believe we have finally made it to the big day, it has been a long time coming! You are truly an inspiration - a venue is only as good as it coordinators and manager and since day one you have given me such confidence that anything is possible and no obstacle is too big in having a wedding that is exactly what you want.
