The Village Barn
The Village Barn is an exclusive, rustic, relaxed & unique venue nestled in the quaint village of Tyrrellspass, Co. Westmeath, right in the heart of the Irish midlands. It is brimming with character and is sure to blow you away.
Surprisingly inauspicious from the outside, one would never imagine that behind this unassuming little country pub set on the main street of a picturesque little village, would lie the most enchanting and magical wedding venue.
Being a little over 1 hour from Dublin & Galway just off the M6, The Village Barn is very accessible and accessed by all major roadways. With facilities to hold up to 180 guests alongside many quirky accommodation options, you are assured both you and your guests will be catered for.

Willie's Bar
Willie's Bar is a typical, homely Irish pub with tonnes of character, a warm and friendly atmosphere and a top class creamy pint of Guinness. It has an old world charm with original stone walls adorned with historical pictures, a cosy snug bar and a warm and inviting lounge with an open fire. Willie's Bar is a little piece of history and has certainly held many a “shindig” over the years – If these walls could talk, we’re sure they would have a story or two to tell! Our wonderful barman Junior who, on many occasions, is known to have solved the worlds problems whilst serving one of our speciality whiskeys, is always on hand.
This unassuming little pub is a hub of activity and it is the perfect place for your guests to have pre-ceremony drinks and catch up with one another before the festivities of the day begin.
The Sanctuary
The Sanctuary is the ideal setting for you and your partner to exchange your vows. Set at the end of a beautiful tree lined walkway, it is in this very special space that you and your partner, in the company of your nearest and dearest, get to say your all-important “I Do’s”.
The building itself is not unlike a traditional chapel with its ornate pews, stained glass windows, a viewing gallery and bucket loads of natural light even in winter, The Sanctuary creates the most spectacular and intimate backdrop for your ceremony.
The chapel is licenced for Civil Ceremonies, Blessings and Civil Partnerships. With a full PA system you have the freedom to choose your very own musical soundtrack for your ceremony and we can cater for solo musicians or small musical groups in this space. The Sanctuary has all the ingredients for you both to create an unforgettable and unique wedding ceremony.
The Orangery
Following your wedding nuptials, you and your guests will continue the celebrations over pre-dinner drinks in The Orangery. This inviting area is the perfect spot to mingle with your guests over delicious canapes while sipping a tipple of your choice. With a fully stocked bar, beautifully exposed original stone work and an outdoor patio area boasting panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, The Orangery is sure to delight your guests, both young and old.
The Orangery is a very rustic, eclectic space which allows for you and your guests to relax into your surroundings. In the colder months, the open fire is always ablaze, and for those balmy summer days, The Orangery offers a cool retreat from the warm summer sun. The clever, functional design creates a seamless indoor outdoor flow and it truly is the ideal spot to fully immerse yourself into the idyllic surroundings.
The Courtyard & Gardens
Our courtyard & gardens are meticulously maintained and offer an unrivalled backdrop for your wedding photographs. We strive to plant native, indigenous plants that are not only beautiful but remain in keeping with the local flora and fauna and our wildflowers keep the bees buzzing in the summertime. Whatever the season, our courtyard and gardens are beautifully presented and in-keeping with the time of year.
The Barn
There is a reason this exquisite building is our name sake. The Barn, with its high vaulted ceilings, rustic reclaimed school tables, mismatched chairs, panoramic views and inspiring décor is what sets this reception venue apart from the competition. The Barn really has the “wow” factor.
Lovingly restored in 2013 and keeping in tune with its surroundings, The Barn is a truly magnificent space where old world character meets new world design. We have worked tirelessly to ensure this venue remains timeless alongside allowing each couple to create a truly unforgettable, bespoke wedding reception. The relaxed environment coupled with cosy snug corners, an open fire, decadent chandeliers and quirky treasures all lend to the rustic vibe.
Boasting a fully stocked bar with all the essentials to ensure you and your guests are catered for, a large dance floor to dance the night away, a PA system and stage you have all the ingredients for a spectacular night of celebrating. The Barn offers so much more than your typical wedding venue – it is a labour of love which we hope is evident in our careful and thoughtful restoration of the building and its surroundings.
Our Food
We only use the finest, locally sourced ingredients in our dishes. Our owner, David, has successfully run his own catering company for over 25 years so he is very particular about his food! Our chefs are highly skilled at creating dishes catering to all and, rumour has it, our homemade ice-cream is to die for!!!
In keeping with the ethos of The Barn, we serve all meals “family style” which is a wonderfully engaging way for guests to interact whilst digging in to some pretty spectacular grub if we do say so ourselves.

We are very lucky to have a team of amazing, dedicated people who are passionate about providing excellent customer care alongside knowing how to interact and have the craic with our guests. The staff here at The Village Barn is like one big family, and once you decide to book your special day with us, you become a part of that ever growing clan. Each of us has an important and valued role to play in your overall wedding experience. From your initial enquiry right the way through to your wedding day, you will always have a member of our dedicated and experienced team on-hand to provide you with the support you need.

In the lead up to the wedding everyone we communicated with was so helpful and friendly, they were a dream to work with and made everything easy and straightforward for us.
The day of the wedding was amazing! The place is so fabulous and quirky, and we got amazing photos. The day was so relaxed and fun, and all our guests commented on how beautiful it was. The food was delicious and great value for money.

The whole team was absolutely wonderful and made planning the wedding from abroad (USA) easy. Amy was great in preparation and on the day, she listened to what we wanted and made everything happen even better than what we had imagined. She ensured the whole day ran smoothly and gave us guidance when we needed. The guy (sorry can't remember his name) who ran the bar on the day and drove the bus at the end of the night was brilliant. Helping us avoid conflicts with family who were trying to pay for things we didn't want them to!
Everyone raved about the venue and food. We had them cater for a gathering we did the night before and it was also fantastic.
The associated accomodation was great too. Not run by the Barn but everyone loved it.
Overall, 10/10 loved the Barn, would get married here again! We're sure it would be great for any type of wedding, but we can't imagine a better place for a casual, fun filled wedding.

We got married in the Villagebarn on the 06.08.22 and wow what an amazing day we had,from the very first minute to the very last sing song that night,we had thee most amazing and memorable day of our life?s. David and his Daughter Amy looked after our every need even the needs we didn?t know we had ???? the team on the day were an absolute credit to you guys and if we could go back and do it all over again we can honestly say that we wouldn?t change a thing. We have heard comments from our guest like ?the best wedding we have ever been too? that?s pretty amazing for us as a couple but we couldn?t have had such a fun filled day without all the team at the Villagebarn. I?m hoping that we will get to return some day as a guest,100% the most magical wedding venue.

From the very start David, Amy, Hazel, Michael, George and the team went above and beyond to make our day memorable with the perfect blend of professionalism with welcoming informality.
The venue itself is outstanding and incredibly special and our guests were blown away by the standard and variety of the meal, with staff always on hand.
We went for their bells and whistles package, which kept our friends and family well fed and watered throughout the day. Amazing pizzas topped off a great night.
David and his team also looked after our food for day 2 in Foxes, Loughnavalley - a curry and beef stroganoff buffet combo, which also went down a treat and they looked after the logistics of it all, even accommodating a last minute change when we realised we forgot to include a veg alternative for 2 guests.
We'd no feedback to offer when Michael asked us the morning after and would easily recommend to newly-engaged couples.

We were delighted with our choice to go ahead with a non-religious wedding ceremony at the Village Barn's very own ceremony venue known as the Barn. The pew benches gave a nice church feel to the venue which we liked but style of the building and our ability to decorate it as we liked gave it more personal feel.
The Orangery was probably our favorite part of the venue owing to the super interior, internal planting scheme, huge panes of glass looking out to the Sanctuary and the garden and the top class Guiness which my guests believe is some of the best they have tried (not an easy feat!).
We couldn't have asked for nicer food and all our wedding guests complemented their meal combined with the service.

We had what I can only describe as a fairytale day.
The Barn is such a unique setting, you completely forget about the outside world once in there.
The staff are amazing, The food to die for( especially Davids garlic potatoes) oh and homemade ice cream....
You have such a wide range of food to choose from too.
There isn't enough words to express how wonderful the place really is.
And how at ease you feel in their hands.
If you are looking for something unique and relaxed.

And yes, we can't even be modest the garlic potatoes and ice cream are truly delicious!
