The Village Barn

The Village Barn, nestled in the quaint village of Tyrrelspass, Co. Westmeath, right in the heart of the Irish midlands, is an exclusive and wonderfully unique, rustic wedding venue that is brimming with character and is sure to blow you away.

Surprisingly inauspicious from the outside, one would never imagine that behind this unassuming little country pub set on the main street of a picturesque little village, would lie the most enchanting and magical wedding venue.

Being a little over 1 hour from Dublin & Galway, The Village Barn is very accessible and accessed by all major roadways. With facilities to hold up to 180+ guests comfortably alongside many quirky accommodation options, you are assured both you and your guests will be catered for.

Willies Bar

Willies Bar is a typical, homely Irish pub with tonnes of character, a warm and friendly atmosphere and a top class creamy pint of Guinness. It has an old world charm with original stone walls adorned with historical pictures, a cosy snug bar and a warm and inviting lounge with an open fire. Willies Bar is a little piece of history and has certainly held many a “shindig” over the years – If these walls could talk, we’re sure they would have a story or two to tell! Our wonderful barman Junior who, on many occasions, is known to have solved the worlds problems whilst serving one of our speciality whiskeys, is always on hand.

This unassuming little pub is a hub of activity and it is the perfect place for your guests to have pre-ceremony drinks and catch up with one another before the festivities of the day begin. 

The Sanctuary 

The Sanctuary is the ideal setting for you and your partner to exchange your vows. Set at the end of a beautiful tree lined walkway, this is not “any old” ceremony room – it is a very special, unique chapel which oozes romance. It is in this very special space that you and your partner, in the company of your nearest and dearest, get to say your all-important “I Do’s”.

The building itself is brimming with character and is a feast for the senses. With ornate pews, stained glass windows, a very special viewing gallery and bucket loads of natural light even in winter, The Sanctuary creates the most spectacular and intimate backdrop for your ceremony.

The chapel is licenced for Civil Ceremonies, Blessings and Civil Partnerships. With a full PA system to hand, you have the freedom to choose your very own musical soundtrack for your ceremony and we can cater for solo musicians or small musical groups in this space. The Sanctuary has all the ingredients for you both to create an unforgettable and unique wedding ceremony. 

The Orangery  

Following your wedding nuptials, you and your guests will continue the celebrations over pre-dinner drinks in The Orangery. This inviting area is the perfect spot to mingle with your guests over delicious canapés while sipping a tipple of your choice. With a fully stocked bar, beautifully exposed original stone work and an outdoor patio area boasting panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, The Orangery is sure to delight your guests, both young and old.

The Orangery is a very rustic, eclectic space which allows for you and your guests to relax into your surroundings. With the option of covering the outdoor area with 2 spectacular African tents, you and your guests can take full advantage of the outdoor area regardless of the weather. In the colder months, the open fire is always ablaze and for those balmy summer days, The Orangery offers a cool retreat from the warm summer sun. The clever, functional design creates a seamless indoor outdoor flow and it truly is the ideal spot to fully immerse yourself into your idyllic surroundings. 

The Courtyard and Gardens  

Our courtyard and gardens are meticulously maintained and offer an unrivalled backdrop for your wedding photographs. We strive to plant native, indigenous plants that are not only beautiful but remain in keeping with the local flora and fauna and our wildflowers keep the bees buzzing in the summertime. Whatever the season, our courtyard and gardens are beautifully presented and in-keeping with the time of year. 

The Barn

There is a reason this exquisite building is our name sake. The Barn, with its high vaulted ceilings, rustic reclaimed school tables, mismatched chairs, panoramic countryside views and inspiring décor is what sets this reception venue apart from the competition. The Barn really has the “wow” factor.

Loving restored in 2013 and keeping in tune with its surroundings, The Barn is a truly magnificent space where old world character meets new world design. We have worked tirelessly to ensure this venue remains timeless alongside allowing each couple to create a truly unforgettable, bespoke wedding reception.The relaxed environment coupled with cosy snug corners, an open fire, decadent chandeliers and quirky treasures all lend to the rustic vibe.

Boasting a fully stocked bar with all the essentials to ensure you and your guests are catered for, a large dance floor to dance the night away, a PA system and stage you have all the ingredients for a spectacular night of celebrating. Rest assured your guests will be talking about your wedding day for many years to come!

The Barn offers so much more than your typical wedding venue – it is a labour of love which we hope is evident in our careful and thoughtful restoration of the building and its surroundings. 

Our Food

We only use the finest, locally sourced ingredients in our dishes. Our owner, David, has successfully run his own catering company for over 25 years so he is very particular about his food! Our chefs are highly skilled at creating dishes catering to all and, rumour has it, our homemade ice-cream is to die for!!!

In keeping with the ethos of The Barn, we serve all meals “family style” which is a wonderfully engaging way for guests to interact whilst digging in to some pretty spectacular grub if we do say so ourselves
