A Traditional Irish Wedding With Beautiful Autumn Colours

Articles, Real Weddings
Meet Darragh and Ciara. They hosted a traditional Irish wedding on a gorgeous autumn day. They selected the perfect autumn colour palette to let their theme shine.

Couple: Darragh & Ciara
Engagement length: 1 year 10 months
Wedding date: 2023-10-27
Wedding location: Farnham Estate Cavan
Photographer: Renata Dapsyte

Ciara says, “Darragh surprised us all as he said he was going to spend Christmas with my family instead that year. Darragh proposed on Christmas eve outside the church after midnight mass, a perfect early Christmas present.”

“We had a traditional Irish wedding with the ceremony in the church and reception in the Farnham estate. It was in October so our theme and colours were very autumnal. Our Florist, Jolanta at The Secret Garden Flowers helped us create the most perfect themes and colours not only in the church but at the reception too. Her bouquets and flowers were absolutely stunning.”

Ciara had a traditional white wedding dress by designer Pronovias which was bought in Love Ellie in Virginia Cavan. Darragh wore a 3 piece suit which he purchased in Tomorrow’s Menswear Derry. It was a stoned colour suit with navy trousers to match in with the groomsmen and bridesmaids.

The bridesmaids wore a royal navy dress and the groomsmen wore navy suits with Darragh and a waistcoat to match.

“We had a traditional Irish church wedding. The church looked absolutely beautiful, the sun was beaming in the windows in which we were very lucky to have such a beautiful day seeing as the wedding was in October. Our ceremony singer Katie Duignan was simply incredible and Celebrant Fr. Paul Casey (who is Ciara’s uncle) was the final piece to the puzzle. He made the ceremony so personal and had us at ease throughout. He went above and beyond to help us on our way for our special day.”

They hosted a beautiful wedding reception celebration at The Farnham Estate on the outskirts of Cavan Town.

“The venue is just stunning with the combination of the old estate into the new modern building just adds the perfect blend. The wedding area is separate to the main hotel which makes it all more personal and private. The grounds itself is perfect for a photoshoot.”

The Big Day was wonderfully captured by Renata Dapsyte Photography!

“I couldn’t recommend Renata enough, she is extremely professional and kept us at ease throughout the day. The images we have received back from her are just stunning, the way she captured the day is fascinating. She got all the key moments you yourself might miss and put them between the lense. I was delighted to have her with us on the day.”

To entertain their guests they arranged a selfie mirror, an audio guestbook where guests could leave voice messages and Singers Secreto who came out just after dessert.

“He is dressed up as a waiter who then falls over to try fool people, he then proceeds to sing, it was brilliant, really got the crowd going. We had a band and DJ, “A few good men” who were absolutely brilliant. I couldn’t recommend them enough, the dance floor was filled the whole night.”

Ciara and Darragh share their favourite memory from the day:

“Being with our family and friends on our special day.”

Newlyweds give great advice, so this is what Ciara and Darragh had to say to engaged couples:

“Sit back and enjoy!!! It may feel like this is the first wedding ever and it is, for the couple. But just remember, the church, the reception, the florist, the band have all done this before, so let them do the hard work, and you as a couple just enjoy.”
