Pantone’s official colour of the year for 2014, Radiant Orchid is bursting onto the bridal scene and bringing with it a bold, fresh new take on wedding style. Purple was always one of the more popular colours for weddings (and Irish weddings in particular) but always felt like a bit of a safe option when it came to décor. Not so for 2014 with splashes of both soft and bold shades making stylish waves in floral décor in particular.
And flowers are where we should start tackling our 50 shades of purple. Noble bouquets of mauve Mallow Flowers, light purple Orchids and African Violets create a full, romantic ribbon-tied bouquet for a valiant yet traditional bride. Brides looking for a more subtle, country wild-flower feel can opt for a smaller burlap-tied bunch of bright Veronica, lilac Wisteria and Blue Stream Limonium. A sprig of Lavander on each place setting will tie your tables in with your theme, as will a bespoke gilded menu.
