Why make do with one wedding cake when you could have three? Yes, we’re talking about (and still obsessing over) the Royal wedding cake for Harry and Meghan, or should we say, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding on May, 19th. Their non-traditional, and totally pretty trio of cakes was baked by Californian Claire Ptak and was made using 200 Amalfi lemons, 500 eggs and 10 bottles of elderflower cordial made at the Queen’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
The cake perfectly matched the couples desire for a modern wedding and was displayed on different height gold plinths and featured three different types of Meghan’s favourite flower, peonies.
We have a feeling this fresh approach is going to make trios of wedding cakes even more popular than they are already and today we’ve had a look for some absolute beauties to get your wedding cake inspiration started!
The majestic cake trio itself – isn’t it amazing! We love the modern buttercream, and the step away from traditional tiered cakes. It’s rumoured a slice cost £80 to bake and the gold plinths are valued at £50,000 to make!
