How did you meet and get engaged?

We met at a mutual friend’s going away party and stayed up talking all night. Almost three years later while we were on holiday in Portugal, Seamie hired a yacht for a sunset cruise along the coast and popped the question!

Tell us about your bridal look:

For my dress I knew I wanted to keep it quite simple, clean lines without any embellishment. I went to two stores, one in Galway with my mom and mother in law and the second in New York while on holiday with a friend. I ended up finding the perfect one and it was an excuse to go back and collect the dress a year later! I kept my hair down and just added some volume and waves. And makeup, I still wanted to look like myself just a more polished version so we focused on good skin and then a subtly sultry eye.

What did your bridesmaids wear?

My bridesmaids wore a ruby coloured chiffon dress from Dessy with simple white bouquets.

What was your ceremony like?

Our ceremony was really enjoyable. We had Seamie’s local parish priest who was also his school teacher do the ceremony. It was great as he knew loads of our guests and started the day off on a lovely note. It was full of humour.

Tell us about your wedding venue:

Our venue was Ballymagarvey village. It was spectacular in every way. The food was outstanding and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The decor was just what I was looking for; beautiful foliage, fairy lights, candles throughout the room. Fire pits and chandeliers in the trees carried the party atmosphere outside.

What is your favourite memory from your wedding day?

My favourite memory is that moment before they opened the doors to walk down the aisle, I was full of nervous excitement.

Have you got any advice for other couples?

If something isn’t the way you wanted it, don’t stress because you are the only one that will know, your guests won’t know how it should have been.
Also don’t feel pressure to invite someone just because they invited you to theirs. They may have had a venue that could accommodate higher numbers and you might have been number 199 out of 200.
