We met at a job interview. I was hiring him.

Our proposal happened in a boat. We were having our couple photos taken and decided Porto was the city that made the most sense as it meant a lot to us both. However, Marcio had made arrangements with Ana (the photographer) without my knowledge and she suddenly took me to the port area where Marcio was already at a boat in a sailor outfit (honoring my love for him being a Marine). I thought that was the surprise part until mid cruise he got on one knee and popped the question. It was very emotional and fun and we have gorgeous photos to show for it!

Our wedding theme was boats and marines. As Marcio had been a marine and we both love boats the colours were rose gold and white.

Things we DIY’d/made ourselves… pretty much all stationary, from invitations to table charts, some decoration and gifts for the guests.

My dress was love at first sight. It was very easy to choose. My hair and makeup were simple and classy.

Marcio’s suit was designed and made in a local factory.

Our ceremony happened in a church. It was a long ceremony and very emotive. So happy the church was completely full!

We chose our photographer because we loved her work. Natural, simple, capturing moments and not poses. There is always plenty of light. And she didn’t want us to waste too much time on taking photos but rather had us enjoy our day with our friends and family while she would just walk around and capture all those moments.

We chose our venue because it was really nice, it was easy to walk there on high heels and there was a small garden and no pool. As we had many kids, that was a concern.

Our honeymoon was on a cruise. As we love boats, that was our first option. We loved it.

My favourite part of the wedding day was the wedding ceremony itself. Entering the church was the most wonderful moment, so full of emotion.

My piece of advice for other couples is to start soon. We programmed everything with a year and a half so that there wouldn’t be things undone the day before. Choose a great pair of wedding rings, as it is the only thing you will be looking at every single day. Choose a great photographer to have beautiful memories. Then delegate the most you can during the day, and enjoy!
